I've been quiet around here and there isn't just one simple reason.
I'm heading into a new season of life, my youngest is a senior!
I'm doing my very best to be present and soak up every moment with him.
Also, I'm once again doing photos for HYSL soccer league. Last year I stepped up to help the league out last minute, this year I am choosing to do it again (praying for less criticism and more understanding this year) because there was a big learning curve and I want to apply all that I learned from last year. It was by far the hardest job I have done in the photography world. This job takes up a solid 4 weeks of working around the clock from shooting, culling, editing, organizing, ordering, and packaging it is a huge job.
This means less availability for senior portraits! It is also my sons senior year (he's the handsome guy in the photos) of Varsity soccer and I will do my very best to not miss any games, so that leaves me with October and if we are lucky a few spots in November before the time change and the winter weather.
With all this being said, I am doing my best to fit in those who have reached out but with my waitlist, my books are about 98% full for the year. (unless you want studio sessions)
Inn my 20 years of photographing seniors I have learned a lot. One thing I think all parents should know is you need one photo for the yearbook before deadline and that varies from school to school with Ferndale being the soonest in early November to Eureka High being due the first parts of December, and Fortuna not until spring when they get a senior page but don't get to choose their own senior portrait. I believe all kids should get a senior portrait experience and fall is definitely a great time but spring is pretty awesome too! So I will try to open a day or two of super minis for those who just want to grab a quick yearbook photo and do their full session in spring for graduation announcements.
