PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE!

Calanande8/27/2026

Me and Andrea took a late night drive to stargaze and view the lunar eclipse that took place last night!

While my camera did very well with the close up moon pics for the light side, the dark side kept getting faded out unfortunately. And I couldn't get a very detailed picture of it at its peak. But I did get some decent photos nonetheless! Definitely a super cool experience!!

Be sure to head over to Storm chaser Andrea Arrasmith's page and see the collage she put together! Her pics are even better!!!

Me and Andrea went to see Never Stop Chasing last night! Such a great film. Really highlighted the dangers of chasing. But most importantly the scientific mission behind it! Hearing reeds story more in depth, the losses he and the community have suffered, the pure passion for weather, and humanity as a whole. It was definitely a film for the heart strings 🥲

We would've gotten selfies with the movie poster... IF THEY HAD ONE 😒

10/10 would recommend. And remember

SUNSET CEREMONY!

A Nice little afternoon drive held a few beautiful shots for us to behold!

After the beautiful cloud iridesence featured on Andreas page, we got an absolutely ASTONISHING sunset! Nothing beats that rich orange-pink hue, especially as it perfectly lights the clouds from below! 🤩

🌩️LUXURIOUS LIGHTNING! 🌩️

🗓️ 8/12/2026

these are a few still shots we captured of the frequent cloud to ground lightning these cells produced! Ignore my camera just being unable to process the flash😅 they say the best camera, is the one in your hands! My cellphone said otherwise!

DID YOU KNOW?

⛈️Negative lightning accounts for about 95% of all strikes? Appearing as fast, multi-stroke, jagged flashes near heavy rain.

⚡While positive lightning makes up less than 5% of strikes, hitting as a single, massive, loud bolt up to 25 miles away from the storm under clear skies

The pictures below are all examples of Negative strikes! 🤓

SHELF CLOUD SHOWDOWN!

🗓️8/12/2026

Here's a little collection of shots we got from the approaching MCS! You can see a clear demonstration of the inflow into this cell. Kicked up a few dust devils too at the speedway! Definitely a decent comeback after the pretty much month long quiet period!

Ole girl definitely put in some WORK this storm season!

Kept us entirely safe during every chase, managed to maintain a windshield (with a lot of cracks) handled all terrains (deep mud, deep snow, thick ice, flooding, dirt, gravel, ect) with ease. Got us to quite a few tornadoes, lots of further away chases, even across country!

It definitely had its moments: Suffered a misfire on the morning of the Father's day chase, but still ran rough but steadily til I could fix it at the nearest auto parts store. It also left us stranded at one point after is seemingly auto locked itself while the keys were in the ignition (low-key our faults but y'know 🤣) but nonetheless it always got us home safe in the end!

This was technically its second actual season on duty. But the first where it's been in the spotlight! Before it's first major modification haul, I bought it and almost immediately put it into service. Utilizing it for my damage surveys of both the Princeton, IN EF1, and the Evansville, IN EF0. And used it to chase the supercell that produced the Equality IL EF3 and Morganfeild KY EF3!

this season, it got us to 10 tornadoes! And we have identified where it could improve/be upgraded. So this winter? I've got a list of upgrades and modifications to be done in order to prepare it for next season!

Project Firestorm Episodes 2 and possibly even 3 will be in the works! So stay tuned!!!

Just a little PSA,

In the wake of a major tornado impact: if you really think getting your drone shot is more important than providing aid to those affected, then you need to step aside.

The content we create from chasing is great yes. And the damage videos definitely help to a point. But LIFE comes first. You should not be entering highly affected areas, in the way of all first responders and/or storm recovery teams, just to fly a drone and capture everyone's losses. Not only is it incredibly disrespectful to the victims, but it also majorly interferes with disaster relief operations

As a storm chaser, our priorities should be information relay during storms, and mutual aid in the aftermath. Our content creation should come in second. If you think your content creation game is more important than the lives we try to save, then you are part of the problem.

Some storm chasers have no limits to how far they will go to get their content. And it's branding us all with a really bad name. Flying drones in restricted/highly affected areas, blowing stop signs, criminal speeding, illegal overtakes, hit and runs, or even just congregating so much we cause traffic jams for miles. So many incredibly dangerous or annoying manuvers being performed that make us as a whole look bad.

During the father's day outbreak, mere minutes after the Chandler Twins struck, we were tasked by the Warrick county sheriff's office to shut down a road/re direct traffic to nearby detours due to downed LIVE power lines.. during that time, we also came into contact with a Vanderburgh County Dispatcher. While we were talking and directing traffic, another storm chaser came across our road block. Did not offer to help, was not working to get to affected areas for help. He practically bullied his way through the roadblock, drove his SUV off road and almost got himself stuck in the mud by driving around the downed pole. Which again, was LIVE. Even tried encouraging others to do the same. All of that? For a picture.. of a downed power line. (Said road closure pictured below. Picture was taken right as we found it, sheriffs deputy arrived on scene seconds later)

It's to the point where individual states are trying to pass laws to ban or regulate chasing, news stations warning the public of us, even the National Weather Service beginning to discourage people from chasing because it's gotten so bad.

As storm chasers, some of us need to do better. Need to re-evaluate our priorities in the field. And need to show some compassion to storm victims. If you can't do that? Can't respect storm victims, their privacy, or the responders working the disaster? Then you need to step aside. You are not a true chaser. Youre just an adrenaline ju**ie with a camera. Get out of the way.
