Every senior walks into their session carrying a story they don’t say out loud.

Sometimes it’s, “I don’t like having my picture taken.”

Sometimes it’s, “I’m awkward.”

Sometimes it’s simply, “I hope this turns out okay.”

Natalie arrived quietly. A little reserved. Completely herself.

And then, little by little, she let the evening unfold.

The smiles became effortless.
The confidence started to shine.
The camera disappeared.

That’s my favorite part of every senior session. Not taking beautiful photographs. Watching someone realize they already were.

One of my favorite things about senior sessions?

Finding the sweet spot between what Mom is dreaming of… and what the senior is excited about.

Lane’s mom envisioned modern beach portraits with the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Lane wanted to celebrate the sport that’s been such a big part of his high school years.

So we did both.

We started by the water, chased the evening light, and finished at his home stadium on the soccer pitch. The result? A gallery that feels complete. One that tells the story of who he is right now.

That’s always the goal.

Senior portraits should feel personal, not like someone else’s Pinterest board.

Time has a beautiful way of folding in on itself.

Five years ago I photographed this family as they welcomed Bowie into the world.

This week, I watched him proudly become a big brother once again.

Alongside Atlas, these two boys already seem to understand that their greatest adventure has just begun.

And nestled safely in their arms is the sweetest little sister. A tiny cherub who has already found exactly where she belongs.

Yes, I want the photos to be gorgeous. But anyone with an iPhone in their pocket can take a picture of what something looked like.

I’m interested in what it felt like.

The glance between best friends.
The uncontrollable laughter.
The way everyone naturally gravitates toward the people they love most.

Because nostalgia doesn’t come from standing shoulder to shoulder with stiff ‘say cheeeeeeese’ grimaced smiles.

It comes from authenticity and FUN. From the laughter you forgot you were having but a camera was there. From the little things you didn’t know you’d miss. From the moments in between the cheese.

And someday, when these kids are grown and scattered across different cities and different lives, I want them to look at these photos and feel eighteen all over again.

…and now Varsity is back at it Thursday at home vs MLT to continue the grind, and if you’ve been waiting to catch a game, this is the time.

One season ends, and suddenly you realize how many moments lived inside it.

Bus rides. Inside jokes. Late light on the field. Big saves. Bigger celebrations. The kind of memories that don’t look important at the time until they become the ones everyone talks about later.

JV wrapped their season this week, and these guys gave me plenty to photograph along the way.
