Family portraits don’t have to feel stressful (or take forever)!

One of the biggest reasons this portion of the day runs smoothly is preparation. Anywhere from one to three months before your wedding, I work with you to create an organized family photo list so we know exactly who is needed for each photograph.

The biggest favor you can do is communicate that plan with your family before the wedding day. When everyone knows where they need to be and when, we can move quickly and efficiently, giving you more time to celebrate.

I’ll be there to direct the entire process, keep everyone on schedule, and make sure nothing gets missed. You simply get to enjoy being surrounded by the people you love most.

As a wedding photographer, I don’t think you should choose someone solely because they’ve photographed an event at your venue. Experience behind the camera matters far more than familiarity with a specific location. A seasoned photographer knows how to find beautiful light, adapt to any environment, and create intentional images wherever your wedding takes place.🕊️

That said, when I have the opportunity to photograph at a venue I know well, such as Emerson Fields, it only enhances the experience.

I already know how the light moves across the property throughout the day, where to find the best portraits in every season, and how to keep your timeline moving efficiently while still creating space for meaningful moments together.

It’s an added layer of confidence that allows me to work even more intuitively behind the scenes, so you can stay fully present with the people you love most while I focus on documenting your day beautifully.☺️

One of my favorite parts of this job is getting to document more than just one milestone!

It might start with your engagement, then your wedding day, followed by maternity photos, newborn snuggles, and eventually family sessions with little ones who have grown so much since I first met them.

I always recommend neutral tones, soft textures, and outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. I also recommend coordinating colors without being overly matched so your gallery feels consistent. Most importantly, wear something that feels like you! Your photos should reflect your relationship, not a trend that won’t feel like your style a few years from now.
