Well, my change in career has been going slower than I had hoped. Only 2 interviews in the last year despite countless applications. But I'm not giving up!

As I mentioned last year, I am taking on very few shoots at this time to focus on volunteering at libraries and gaining experience. But a friend recently asked if I could do a branding session for her. I've only done a handful of branding sessions over the years but I really do love them. The pace is so different from family sessions and it's just what I needed at this time.

Wow! Haven't been on here in a minute😅 A couple announcements are in order since it's been a while.

For starters, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary as a business! 🎉🎉🎉 10 Years ago today we filed for our LLC and we've been so fortunate to get to know so many of you over the years. It really has been such a blessing to have our own business and make our own hours. I got to stay home with my one and only child and see him grow and all of his "firsts". I got to try my hand at homeschooling only to realize I should not be educating ANYBODY 😂 And I got to grow with all of you. Your families. It's meant so much to me to grow this community and I will be forever grateful.

With that said, it's high time I announced that I am switching careers. Nothing screams mid-life crisis like switching careers at 40 😅 Many of you probably don't know, but I got my masters in Library and Information Science back in 2011. After no job luck for years, I fell back on my photography degree. It made sense at the time and I have no regrets. However, now my son is in school. He doesn't need me home all the time anymore. And I am eager to move to a career with more stability. Photography will always be a first love and I don't think I will ever truly stop doing it. But in the meantime, I have scaled back my workload as I pursue this new chapter. Jeremy has been ramping up his side of the business though and I am so proud of everything he does. If you need an event photographer or headshots, he's your guy.

I've been photographing this adorable family for years and they recently moved a couple hours away. So after a bit of digital location scouting, we found a nice park about halfway between us. It's always nerve-racking to have a session in a place I've never been. But I am always up for a good challenge and I think this one paid off big time!
