It was a beautiful night for a soirée to celebrate a milestone birthday. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans for the latter part of the evening (wind! thunder! rain!) but we managed to capture the fête nonetheless. No rainstorm can stop us!

I've been the house photographer for the Westport Academy of Dance for some years now -- if I'm being honest I don't even remember what year I started photographing the talented dancers at this studio.

What I do know is that this year is the studio's 50th anniversary and, to celebrate, the teachers staged an epic closing number for their annual recitals, which included current and former teachers, staff, and students all dancing on stage together. Here's a look behind the scenes at their final dress rehearsal.
