Twenty years ago in 2006, I flew out to Maine to photograph Acadia National Park for the first time. The colors were amazing, the coast stunning and the photography some of the best I’d ever experienced. I went back again the next year and have returned every year since. Including summer trips, this October will mark my 33rd trip to Maine.

I got to know the national park so well that I started my Acadia Photography Workshops in 2018, where I take up to eight photographers to my favorite places in the national park for five days, leading them to the most beautiful sights in the park and teaching them how to use their cameras and enjoy landscape photography. It’s one of the highlights of my year and I’ve been fortunate to have had dozens of great photographers from across the US, as well as several internationals, join me.

This year I’ve still got some openings– if you know a passionate photographer (or would-be photographer) who'd be interested in taking it to the next level in a beautiful part of the world, let me know. All skill levels are welcome.

A good 60-70% of my Acadia prints contain water- they were taken by the coast or by one of the lakes or ponds or even just a puddle by the side of a trail. Water always adds an extra dimension, introducing reflections, colors and texture to the image, as well as a touch of abstraction.

It's been a while since I posted on here; follow me on Instagram if you're over there– I post a lot more frequently.

This beautiful image was made one evening at Jordan Pond during my Images of Acadia photography workshop. Registration is open for this year's workshop (October 13-18th); it's going to be an awesome time of photography and camaraderie with other fellow photographers. And who knows... you might even learn something.

Buck, October 2025

In a typical visit to Acadia, I'll usually see a dozen deer or more over the course of ten days, most often early or late in the day. This buck was spotted in the middle of the day just outside the Park boundaries, deep in the woods and is the biggest I've seen on the island. We stared at each other for a couple minutes, then went our separate ways.
