First birthdays aren’t about sitting still for one perfect picture.

They’re about tiny hands filled with cake, bubbles floating through the yard, frosting-covered smiles, parents soaking in every second, and siblings making each other laugh.

The milestone matters, but it’s the little moments in between that become the memories.

Some of the best moments aren’t planned.

They’re the frosting-covered fingers reaching for another bite. The big brother chasing bubbles while everyone else is distracted. The laugh that happens when someone gets cake on their face.

A first birthday is worth celebrating, but it’s all of these little in-between moments that become the memories families hold onto years later.

That’s my favorite part of what I do—not just photographing milestones, but preserving what they actually felt like.

When people think about family photos, they often imagine everyone standing still and smiling at the camera.

But my favorite moments usually happen in between…

A little brother reaching for the camera. Two siblings exploring together. The laughter nobody planned.

The moments that feel ordinary today often become the ones you treasure most years from now. That’s why I photograph families the way I do… Not chasing perfection, but preserving connection, because this season deserves to be remembered exactly as it is.

They’re the ones where kids are spinning instead of standing still.

The ones where siblings squeeze each other a little too tight.

The ones where everyone forgets the camera is there.

That’s what I’m looking for during every session. Not perfect poses, but real connection. Because years from now, these are the moments that you’ll want to look back on.
