The kind that starts quietly and somehow becomes impossible to ignore.

Being around them felt like stepping into a world built for two. Every glance carried so much affection that the rest of the room seemed to fade into the background. One of the biggest misconceptions I hear from seniors before their session is that they have to already be “good” at photos in order for their gallery to turn out beautiful.

I promise you — that is not how this works!

Truthfully, even I get nervous when I’m the one in front of the camera! I suddenly forget what to do with my hands, start overthinking my smile, and need constant direction from whoever is photographing me… and I’ve been directing people professionally for almost a decade now!

So if you feel awkward at the beginning of your session? You are so unbelievably normal!

Being in front of a camera can feel vulnerable when you aren’t used to it. That’s why my sessions are never about forcing perfection or expecting you to magically know how to pose. It’s about creating an environment where you can relax into yourself a little bit. Where you can laugh, move around, breathe, and stop feeling like you have to “perform” every second.

Because the photos people connect with most are almost never the perfectly posed ones anyway. They’re the in-between moments, real laughs, and tiny expressions you don’t even realize you’re making.

That’s the magic of it all ✨

My heart has been so full lately watching my 2027 wedding calendar fill up already 🥹

Truly… thank you. Every inquiry, every recommendation to a friend, every couple trusting me with something this meaningful means more to me than I could ever put into words. I never take it lightly that I get to document some of the most important days of people’s lives!

The hours before a wedding always feel a little suspended in time. Everyone moving softly around the room, fixing the last details, and trying to hold onto the moment before the day starts flying by.

Stephanie carried so much grace through every part of the morning. Even in complete stillness, there was emotion in every frame — the way she held her hands together, the look on her face by the window, her mom helping her into the dress. It all felt quiet, intimate, and incredibly real.

There’s a reason I will forever be a first look advocate after weddings like Kenzie + Matt’s 🥹

The second Matt turned around and saw his bride for the first time, you could physically feel the nerves leave his body. They got to hug each other, talk to each other, laugh, cry, and actually soak in the fact that this day they had dreamed about for so long was finally here.

One thing I always tell my couples is this: a first look does not take away from the moment you see each other at the altar. The emotions are completely different. One is intimate and private. The other is overwhelming in the most beautiful way, surrounded by everyone you love.

Another huge reason couples love first looks is because you actually get to spend your wedding day together! Instead of hiding from each other all morning and rushing through portraits afterward, so much can already be finished beforehand. It creates more room for candid moments, more time with your people, and more freedom to actually experience your wedding day side by side 🤍

If you’re a senior and there’s even a small part of you thinking “I have no idea how to pose,” I want you to know that you’re walking into your session exactly like almost everyone else does.

You’re not expected to have it figured out before you get there, and you’re definitely not on your own once we start!

I’m guiding you the entire time — giving direction, adjusting the little details, keeping you moving so nothing feels stiff or forced — so you’re never stuck wondering what to do next or if you’re doing it right!

And if there are photos you’ve saved that you love, whether that’s something you found on Instagram or Pinterest, you can always send those my way. I can work with what already makes you feel confident and build from there in a way that still feels like you, not like you’re trying to copy someone else.

A wedding day that feels calm, present, and fully yours doesn’t just happen by chance.

It’s built with intention.

About two months before your wedding, I send over a questionnaire that goes way deeper than just timing. It’s where you walk me through your bridal party and family photo groupings, the locations you’re drawn to, the moments and events you’re most excited for, and what you want your photos to actually feel like when you look back on them.

From there, we start shaping your timeline and shot list together!

We go back and forth, refining things so your day isn’t built around a generic schedule, but around what you want to experience while you’re in it.

Because some couples want more time in their portraits together. Some want to make sure family photos feel organized and unrushed. These vows weren’t written to be heard by anyone else.

Kylie + Isaiah are reading private vows to each other here, sharing words they chose to keep just between them. Not in place of their ceremony vows, but alongside them in a way that feels just as meaningful in a completely different way. There’s something about having this moment before everything officially begins that lets everything breathe, and you can see how fully they lean into it without anything pulling their attention away or asking them to move on too quickly.

Most people show up to their session a little unsure at first.

Not because anything’s wrong — just because it’s unfamiliar. There’s a camera, you’re aware of it, and for a second you’re in your head about what you should be doing.

And then you stop trying so hard.

You lean into each other the way you normally would. You laugh at something that wasn’t planned. Your hands find each other without thinking about it. And all of a sudden, it feels less like a photoshoot and more like time you actually got to spend together.

That’s exactly what Kalli + Shane did. They didn’t try to turn it into something bigger or more polished than it needed to be. They let the pauses happen instead of filling them. They stayed close instead of stepping back to reset. They trusted that what they already have is enough, and because of that, every frame feels like something real instead of something directed.
