Think linen catching the breeze, a chunky knit adding cozy dimension, satin reflecting soft light, lace creating delicate details, denim bringing structure, or flowing cotton adding beautiful movement with every step. These little details help your gallery feel layered, timeless, and full of life.

When you’re planning outfits, don’t just ask, “Do these colors match?” Ask, “How do these fabrics work together?” Mixing textures creates images that feel natural, intentional, and visually interesting without trying too hard.

The best outfits don’t compete for attention, they add to the story you’re telling.

One of the questions I get asked most is, “What’s your favorite photo spot?”

The truth is... I don’t really have one.

A beautiful gallery isn’t created because of a specific location. It’s created by the way the light falls, the way you move together, and the moments we create in whatever space we’re given.

Some of my favorite images have been taken in the simplest places because we focused less on finding the perfect background and more on chasing beautiful light, creating movement, and capturing genuine connection.

The backdrop is just part of the story. The real magic comes from you, your relationship, and the way those moments unfold naturally.

Of course you’ll get the classic portraits where you can see every smile, every detail, and every expression. But I also love stepping back and showing just how small you are in the middle of it all.

Whether it’s towering trees, endless fields, rolling hills, or a glowing sunset, those images tell a different part of your story. They remind you of the place, the season, the feeling, and how big the world felt while the two of you were wrapped up in your own little moment.

Engagement sessions aren’t about standing in front of a camera and wondering, what do I do with my hands?

They’re about slowing down and simply spending time with your favorite person.

Snuggle in a little closer. Whisper something that makes them laugh. Run around, dance in a field, or just soak in a quiet moment together. My goal isn’t to have you looking at the camera every second, it’s to help you create memories you’ll actually remember.

Don’t worry about knowing how to pose. I’ll guide you every step of the way with natural prompts and easy direction so you can focus on each other instead of feeling awkward.

The purpose of photography has never been just to create pretty images.

It’s to remember.

Every once in a while, I’ll open up an old gallery, like Megan and Tanner’s wedding, and slowly scroll through the day all over again. The quiet moments before the ceremony. The tears during speeches. The laughter on the dance floor. The hugs that lasted just a little longer than expected.

As photographers, we’re preserving so many moments our couples may not even realize are happening. The glance between grandparents. The way your parents looked at you from across the room. Your friends doubled over laughing. The little moments that would have quietly faded with time.

Photographs have a way of bringing those memories back, not just what the day looked like, but what it felt like.

Years from now, these images become more than a wedding gallery. They become the way you remember the people, the emotions, and the moments that made your story yours.

One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is when couples make the evening feel like them.

Instead of just showing up for photos, Danielle and Michael slowed down and created a moment they genuinely love. They lit a fire in their backyard, pulled up a couple of chairs, cracked open their favorite Busch Lights, and simply enjoyed being together.

They laughed, clinked their cans in a quiet cheers, stole a few kisses, and watched the sun disappear. No rush. No agenda. Just an evening that felt familiar, intentional, and completely their own.

These are the moments I’ll encourage every couple to create. The photos become so much more than pretty portraits, they become a snapshot of what this season of life actually feels like.

Your photos should feel like you.

Not overly posed. Not stiff. Not trying to recreate someone else’s Pinterest board.

I want you to laugh until your cheeks hurt, run barefoot if the moment calls for it, hold hands a little longer, and forget the camera is even there. The best photographs aren’t created by perfect posing, they’re created by genuine connection.

When you look back years from now, I don’t want you to remember what I told you to do. I want you to remember how it felt to be there.

Because trends come and go, but authentic moments never go out of style.
