“They Knew The Cost. They Chose Each Other Anyway.”

They learned to love in fragments—
a stolen touch,
a kiss that had to end before it went too far.

But some things are harder to reason with than others.

The pull toward someone.
The need to close the distance.
The feeling that one more kiss is worth whatever comes after.

Eventually, they stopped worrying about the ending.

If loving each other meant taking their last breath side by side,
then so be it. If dying for a kiss was the price, it was worth never living without one.

I’ve always wanted to make photographs that feel less like photographs and more like scenes from movies that were never made—something strange, a little haunting, and deeply romantic.

When reached out, I knew I wanted to make something completely outside the ordinary for her. Truthfully, we mostly just wanted an excuse to spend time together anyway. Somehow, photography has always been our favorite excuse to find ourselves in a little trouble together.

So I made a story about two people who knew better.

And loved each other anyway.

Jackie is an old friend, she contacted me about a session that is way overdue. Her only baby boy will be a young man before she knows it. She has wanted a session with me for a while so we made a plan and she traveled back to her home town to capture their love. She wanted to feel like they were at a beach somewhere far away. Well she got the right girl, I love all things beach. I grabbed a few of my favorite shells and we collaborated on outfits and location. Mission accomplished, beach far away with her wild little man. Dreaming of a faraway beach in the small town of Faribault, Minnesota. ďżź
