Being "photogenic" isn't a natural talent you're born with…it’s just good lighting, proper direction, and not feeling awkward as hell while someone points a lens at you.

If you usually can’t stand most photos taken of you, it’s not a you problem. It just means whoever took it didn't give you actual direction.

You don't need to know what to do with your body or where to look. That's my job as your photographer.

Say hello to one of the nicest couples I’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph! Cathy and Kevin are soul mates. Truly they are. Both actors and interesting and talented You can clearly feel the admiration, respect, and love they have for one another. Each time we get together we don’t just take photos but we laugh and talk and just have a blast together!

This is the first time I’ve taken photos of them together. They know how to have a great time and I think these images really capture it!

I love my job. I mean I really love it. Don’t get me wrong, I am always inspired and am very passionate about photography as an art form but what I do isn’t just clicking a shutter or have knowledge of lighting and posing. It’s about connecting with the wonderful people I meet on a personal level.

It’s almost like a therapy session what I do and I welcome it. I have these moments with my clients many times after a Photoshoot and they are looking at their photos for the first time. This is the moment when so much comes out. I have women talk to me about their goals, struggles, fears, successes, family, work, kids, faith, you name it. And we are remarkable creatures.

I know many business owners. Some I really look up to and people I am constantly learning from. But what most people don’t talk about is being there for one another. It’s all about business logistics and goals and professionalism. But we are here to be of service. People are entrusting me to take their portrait and I’m honored every single time. Not only for the work itself but for the connection I get to have with my clients. This is why I do what I do!

Professional doesn’t have to mean stiff. And approachable doesn’t have to mean casual.

She came in looking for updated LinkedIn headshots for her career in the medical field. The goal was to create something that felt professional and polished, with a sense of authority, while still feeling warm and approachable.

And that balance matters.

Most people aren’t completely comfortable stepping in front of a camera. That’s why so much of what I do has nothing to do with clicking the shutter. It’s about figuring out what you want your photograph to communicate, then guiding you through everything from wardrobe and lighting to posing and expression.

We started with a clean, classic look that gave her exactly what she needed for LinkedIn.

Then we decided to have a little fun.

With her beautiful warm complexion and hazel eyes, I wanted to lean into a richer, more tonal palette. We switched to a textured brown sweater, brought in a warm hand-painted backdrop, changed the lighting…

And BAM.

Same woman. Same session. Completely different feeling.

That’s why I love creating more than one look during a headshot session. Sometimes you need the polished, professional photograph.

And sometimes the photograph you didn’t know you needed ends up being the one that really stands out. 📸

She booked her photoshoot because she wanted a confidence boost.

But what she walked away with was something deeper.

She was nervous when she came in, which is so normal. Most women are. They worry they won’t know what to do, how to pose, what to wear, or whether they’ll actually like what they see in the final images.

But she also had a vision for herself.

She wanted to see herself differently. Not overly posed. Not pretending to be someone else. Just a version of herself that felt strong, beautiful, and real.

That is what I love most about this work.

A portrait session is not just about taking a pretty picture. It is about creating space for someone to finally recognize something in themselves that may have been buried under nerves, self-doubt, motherhood, business, life, or years of not feeling seen.

She came in hoping for a confidence boost.

She left with portraits that reminded her who she is. ❤️
