When continued production of the iBOT Mobility System became uncertain, Reel Heroes Media helped tell the human story behind the technology.
“Save the iBOT,” directed by Bob Vincent and narrated by Gary Sinise, centered veterans whose lives had been transformed by the iBOT—showing it not simply as an engineering achievement, but as a source of freedom, dignity and independence.
In a personal letter to Bob, iBOT inventor and DEKA founder Dean Kamen called the documentary “the most valuable tool in our toolbox”—adding that DEKA had “some very impressive toolboxes”—for convincing others to help bring the next-generation iBOT to fruition.
The film was later featured at American Airlines Sky Ball XV as veterans were introduced who would receive next-generation iBOT mobility systems following FDA approval.
