We all know the night sky is constantly in motion, but visualizing just how fast Earth is actually spinning is another story.

Because Polaris (the North Star) aligns almost directly with our celestial pole, it appears completely motionless while every other star appears to sweep in concentric arcs around it.

This piece is built from ~ 3 hours of continuous sky integration captured from my backyard in WA state. Yes, this is a real photo!

At an apparent motion rate of 15° per hour, each individual star paints its own colorful streak, revealing the natural blues, ambers, and golds usually invisible to the naked eye.

All these moon shots were taken over the course of 9 consecutive days as the smoke from wildfires moved into the region on August 1st, 2026.
I had no plans for a piece like this at the time but when the smoke rolled in and then back out producing a near perfect gradient of colors it felt too perfect let slide.

While I wouldn't call what i got last night rom Perseids a "shower" (over 900 images and only managed to capture 2 meteors!) the one i did get on camera was pretty spectacular! Cutting right between the northern milky way and the andromeda galaxy this one really lit up the frame!

The Washington coast doesn't give up its best views easily! It took three nights of hiking out to the same spot in the dark to finally stitch this scene together.

From clear skies with zero algae on night one, to a total fog-out on night two, to a brilliant, glowing neon ocean under cloudy skies on night three, nature made us work for this one.

The best part was to have my son out hiking in the dark with me to make this happen. We are both stoked on this one!

Luck be a lady tonight… but today, the spotlight is on these fantastic cast members! 🎭✨

I had blast photographing this production of Guys and Dolls, these kids absolutely brought the house down!!!
