Timeless love is still alive and well and it lives in Taylor & Brenn 💕
Don't get me wrong, I love dramatic weddings - but ONLY if it's thrown by a couple who loves orchestrating that over-the-top-experience. Social media has given rise to a true detriment to the industry and the couples it serves: the expectation that every wedding needs to be a production.
As though your love MUST be celebrated with a theatrical display.
But that is PATTENTLY untrue.
If your love is loud and explosive, celebrate it with that same explosive style! But sometimes, your love is quiet. It's that sensation of safety in the arms of your partner, knowing that you're the perfect fit when you snuggle together on the couch. Sometimes it's heading to the courthouse and just signing paperwork because you already know you found your person and don't need to shout it from the mountaintops (you just have to let the government know, for like, taxes and stuff). Sometimes it's carving out a moment in the day to just take in the beauty of the love of your life while Grandma takes the kids home from the courthouse so you can be alone with your true love (and a rando photographer you found on the internet). And sometimes it means going home from the photo session to pick up the kids and go to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate, because nothing says true love like cinnamon butter and biscuits.
And that's truly beautiful.
Taylor and Brenn have the most beautiful smiles, and their eyes just sparkled when they looked at each other. They have a beautiful life ahead of them, and I'm just so grateful I got to enjoy the sunshine they radiated on their rainy elopement day 💗💕

I'm deleting all of my headshots.
I'm done with the overly stylized, picture perfect glam shots I've been using.
I found a new photographer that got me the authentic branding photos I've been looking for. She's new on the scene, but it's clear she's done her research in developing her unique style. Pulling from German expressionist cinema, she uses the Dutch angle masterfully, and her finger in the frame is clearly a commentary on how the photograph reveals more about the photographer than the subject.
Her work (credited, of course) is now up on my website so future clients can get a sense of what I'm like on the job.
But so sorry, M is from out of state, so I guess you're stuck with me as your photographer if you're coming to Delaware 🤷‍♀️

Dear Pepper's Greenhouse -
I bought this on Sunday and it was labeled as a Boston Fern. When I brought it home and planted it, it seemed fine. But when I started watering, this really weird looking growth popped out. Just want to know if it's invasive and if there are further care instructions.
I appreciate your help!

Having the honor of working Helyn & Jacob's wedding was a monumental moment in the life of Still Poetry Photography. Helyn and I live with a very similar set of health conditions, and I saw a lot of my relationship with my own husband in the love they have for each other. Jacob checked in and cared for Helyn the same way I see my Justin care for me every day, and even though large events can be overwhelming for both Helyn and I, their love for Jacob was stronger than their nerves. Every time I sensed her feeling any sort of overwhelm, I watched her draw closer to her safe haven - Jacob.
Their ceremony was filled with so many heartfelt and reverent rituals, but they ensured that every tradition reflected the values they hold in their egalitarian relationship. This was truly a union of equals, and watching the way they supported each other throughout this whole process was inspiring.
I'm so happy whenever I see couples unapologetically show up as themselves on the wedding day. It feels like so often, couples will follow what's trendy and their wedding looks like everyone else's, to the point where it no longer feels like a refection of their relationship. But butterfly sleeves, a rainbow veil, the most gorgeous shoes I've ever seen, socks with chickens on them for the groom and compression socks for the bride were tangible reminders to themselves and the guests that this day was theirs. I know these two have a beautiful life ahead of them, and we're so honored that we got to be there with them for this moment.

Julie and Matt never considered practicing "soft smiles" for their wedding day.
If I had to describe their wedding day, I would use the phrase "unapologetic joy." I've never met a couple more focused on the experience of their guests. Julie kept asking if anyone around her needed anything, and we kept telling her that *she* is the bride and *we* are in charge of asking *her* if she needs anything. And she completely ignored this suggestion and kept checking in on everyone around her.
And Matt just couldn't stop smiling the whole day. Any moment he wasn't greeting his guests, he was smiling at his beautiful bride. These two just absolutely radiated sunshine, and this isn't just something exclusive to their wedding day - they're just a couple that brings joy to anyone who is lucky enough to cross paths with them, every single day.
Justin and I were so honored that these two entrusted us with documenting this moment for them

I had an amazing afternoon getting to experience HOTEL DU PONT for the very first time a few weeks ago at their Cheers to Love expo! I've never had the privilege of seeing the space in person, and it did NOT disappoint. I loved getting to help Confetti & Bustle with her table and telling all the couples that came through about all that she has to offer as a planner and coordinator. If you're planning your big day at this gorgeous venue, make sure you have her run your day so it's picture perfect!
Most of all, I loved getting to meet with so many talented vendors who made this event a success. I can't wait to get to work a wedding here someday!

Hot take 🔥: the most important photos from your wedding day are the ones you don't plan for.
And that's because those are the photos you can never get back.
Newlywed portraits? Pop the dress or tux back on and you can take them another day (which is something we actually recommend if you want to get super creative!). But the quiet moments that will go unnoticed unless you have someone there whose only job is to notice them?
Those are lost forever.
Those little moments of emotion as a stoic family member sheds a tear, the little moments of wonder as a child experiences the magic of the first wedding they've ever seen, the grandma who lets loose on the dancefloor - those are moments too pure to fake or replicate.
