Today is Vixey's 11th Birthday and her Gotcha Day. ❤️
Nine years ago, a little rescue dog came into my life and changed it forever.

Before she became my Vixey, she had been found surviving on the streets of Detroit. It's hard to imagine now when I look at the confident, happy little dog curled up beside me, but there was a time when her future was uncertain. Then somehow, our paths crossed. I truly believe she was always meant to find her way to me.

Over the last nine years, Vixey has been by my side through every chapter of life. Through the dreams, the setbacks, the successes, the grief, the laughter, the uncertainty, and the moments that changed me forever. She has been there through all of it. When I lost people I loved, she was there. When I was building this business from the ground up, she was there. When life felt overwhelming, she was there. When life felt beautiful, she was there too.

She has traveled with me, explored new places, met countless people, and spent more hours riding in the passenger seat than I could ever count. No matter where life takes me, Vixey is almost always right there beside me. She isn't just my dog, she's my soul dog.

The one who knows me better than anyone. The one who can make me smile on the hardest days. The one who has walked beside me through some of the most important years of my life.
Looking at her today at 11 years old, I can't help but feel grateful. Grateful for every adventure, every memory, every cuddle, every road trip, every quiet moment, and every year we've been given together.

From a little rescue found on the streets of Detroit to the dog who became my heart, Vixey's story is one I'll cherish forever.

Happy 11th Birthday and Happy Gotcha Day to the girl who changed my life. My best friend, my constant, my soul dog.

I love you more than you'll ever know. ❤️

Today, we remember the brave men and women who laid down their lives for our country and the freedoms we are able to live with every day.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend, it is a day to honor sacrifice, courage, and the families who carry that loss forever.

To those who gave everything for this country: thank you will never be enough. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

May we spend today remembering, honoring, and appreciating the heroes who gave their lives so others could live freely.

Happy Memorial Day ❤️

Where the Wind Found Him ✨

Klaus has such a regal presence about him. The second he stepped into the forest, everything just fit him perfectly, the deep greens, the quiet woods, the way the light filtered through the trees.

What I loved most was how naturally he carried himself out there. He stood in the middle of the trail like the wind itself had his attention, completely calm and connected to the environment around him. That’s one of the biggest reasons landscape matters so much within my work. I love creating images where the dog doesn’t just pose in nature, but actually feels like part of it.

The forest felt like it belonged to him.

Jango's Instinct & Atmosphere Spirit Within the Flock Highlights🌲

Jango did not enter the woods as just another dog on a trail. He moved through the Narnia Trail in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with the kind of presence that makes you stop walking and simply watch. Sunday’s Instinct & Atmosphere session felt wild in the best way possible, light coming into the trees, moss beneath our feet, squirrels constantly pulling his focus deeper into the forest as his energy continued to build with every mile we hiked. The further we went, the more alive he became.

There was never a moment where Jango looked uncertain. He carried himself with this endless confidence and spirit, moving from adventurous chaos to complete regality within seconds. Everything about him felt powerful, intelligent, and deeply connected to the environment around him.

This is exactly why Living Lineage exists. Living Lineage was never built around simply creating beautiful portraits. It was built to preserve dogs in a way that feels larger than photography alone, preserving instinct, & atmosphere. Every volume is centered around dogs who carry something undeniable within them, and Jango embodies that so naturally within Spirit Within the Flock.

The way he watched the woods, reacted to every sound, chased movement through the trees, and then settled into stillness with such intensity felt like witnessing instinct fully surface in real time. What made Sunday unforgettable was not just the scenery or the adventure itself. The dark evergreens, the rugged stone, the silence between movement, it all reflected who he is so naturally that it no longer felt like a dog being photographed in nature. It felt like nature recognizing him as part of it.

These are the sessions that remind me why I continue building Living Lineage across the country. Dogs leave an impression that goes far beyond a photograph....Jango is one of them.

Reno, Nevada & Lake Tahoe are officially beginning to fill for September 2026 and honestly… seeing how many conversations, calls, and incredible dogs are already coming together for this trip has me SO excited for what this collection is becoming. 🤍

At this point, there are officially only FIVE placements remaining for Nevada/Tahoe before my 2026 travel schedule for the area is completely filled.

For those newer here, Living Lineage is my published fine art series centered around preserving dogs not only as they are seen, but as they were meant to be remembered, through instinct, atmosphere, purpose, movement, and the environments they feel most connected to.

The series is built through multiple volumes including:
Spirit Within the Flock, Guardians of the Land, Born to Pursuit, Call of the Hunt, Built of Grit, Beyond Definition, and Devotion in Their Eyes —each one centered around different breeds, instincts, histories, personalities, and the emotional presence these dogs carry.

The Nevada landscape feels absolutely MADE for this kind of work.
The openness, mountains, desert atmosphere, movement, silence, and scale of it all creates such a powerful environment for instinct-driven dogs and emotional storytelling.

I’ll be photographing throughout both the Reno and Lake Tahoe areas during this trip and would love to continue connecting with owners whose dogs feel deeply tied to presence, instinct, legacy, or purpose.

Once the remaining five placements are filled, Nevada 2026 will officially be closed from my travel schedule. 🤍

Natsu & Shiro | Instinct & Atmosphere | Spirit Within the Flock Highlights

There is something incredibly powerful about witnessing a dog step fully into what they were born to do. Just instinct, presence, lineage, and purpose unfolding naturally in front of you.

I traveled to Ohio that morning to spend time with Natsu during his duck herding training, and watching him work was unforgettable.

Every movement felt intentional. The focus in his eyes, the quiet control in his body, the way he carried himself around the ducks, it was the kind of instinct that runs far deeper than training alone. You can feel generations behind it. His skill is getting better and better, and seeing him step more confidently into his purpose was incredible to document.

Then there is Shiro, completely different energy, yet equally breathtaking. Shiro is a rescue and is only just beginning this journey, but there is already such a regal softness and quiet beauty about him.

The kind of presence that makes you stop for a second and simply look. His portraits felt timeless to me, elegant, soulful, and deeply honest. Watching him slowly grow in confidence throughout the session was one of my favorite parts of the day.
This is what Spirit Within the Flock has always been about for me.

Not just photographing herding dogs.
But preserving the instinct, dignity, emotion, purpose, and individuality within them, whether they are actively working livestock or simply rediscovering pieces of themselves after the life they came from.

Natsu and Shiro both carried something unforgettable in completely different ways, and I am incredibly honored they are becoming part of this published legacy. ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to every dog mom I’ve had the privilege of photographing over the years. 🤍
One of the greatest honors of what I do is witnessing the love between a woman and the dog who changed her life.

I’ve watched you kneel in rivers to hold your senior dog a little closer.I’ve watched you cry during gallery reveals because you realized just how deeply you love them.I’ve watched you celebrate new beginnings with puppies, hold onto final seasons with aging souls, and look at your dogs with the kind of love that doesn’t need words to be understood.

The bond you share with them was never something small. It’s the way they wait for you. The way they look at you when no one else is watching. The quiet understanding built over years of living life side by side. It’s the kind of love that becomes part of who you are. Every time you trust me to preserve that connection, I never take it lightly.

So today, I just want to say thank you.Thank you for letting me tell your stories.Thank you for loving your dogs so fiercely. And thank you for allowing me to create artwork that helps preserve pieces of your heart forever.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women whose love changed a dog’s entire world.

You can tell within seconds what your dog carries that’s rare...

It shows up in how they hold themselves, what they pay attention to, and how they move through a space without needing direction.

Most people see behavior. I’m always looking at what’s underneath that, what they were actually bred for. Honestly, dogs that still carry that naturally are becoming harder to find.
Not because the breeds aren’t around, but because that level of instinct and purpose isn’t always prioritized the same way anymore. That’s what I pay attention to when I photograph. I’m not trying to create something that isn’t there, I’m looking for the dogs that already bring it with them. When they do, it’s pretty obvious.

Those are the dogs I focus on, if that sounds like yours, I’d love to hear about them.
