I found something today that made me smile… and reflect.
My very first logo, one I created myself.
Almost 20 years ago, I created this without knowing where this journey would lead. At the time, I was simply creating a brand for something I loved: photography.
As I looked back through the years and watched my logos evolve, I realized something… a brand grows just like we do.
The fonts changed.
The colors changed.
The style became more refined.
And somewhere along the way, the butterfly appeared.
It wasn’t part of my first logo. It came later, when my brand became more connected to my story.
After losing my mama at only 50 years old, my family began noticing butterflies throughout our home; it was like little reminders of her that were scattered around the spaces she loved.
Then, at her funeral, a butterfly flew out of the woods and stayed near her casket floral blanket until the very last “Amen.”
That moment has stayed with me.
The butterfly became a symbol of love, transformation, new beginnings, and the beautiful reminder that life continues in ways we may not always understand.
So, when I incorporated the butterfly into my brand, it wasn’t just because it was pretty. It carried a much deeper meaning for me.
It represented my journey, my mama’s memory, and the heart behind why I do what I do, preserving stories, celebrating milestones, and capturing moments that become treasured memories.
A logo is only a small piece of a brand. The real brand is the story behind it.
I’d love to know… is there a symbol, tradition, or little reminder in your life that carries a story others may not see?
