Hairy Woodpeckers Busy At Nest Hole in Snag With her usual genius for showing me great shots or videos, my wife urged me to set up to shoot this pair of Hairy woodpeckers. As she said, filming them…

I have an abiding love for snags AND BIRDS!. This photo captures three Acorn Woodpeckers on a very pegged snag. The holes indicate birds' foraging (eating insects) and insects' benefit from the holes-homes created by birds pecking. The obvious pecked appearance is a sign. It speaks to the dead trees’ live contributions to the living.

I shot the photo with a 150-400 F4.5 lens on an OM-1 camera, ISO5000 1/1500s f/14, focal length 400mm.
