Your wedding day shouldn’t feel like a photo shoot. They should feel like you.

Kelsey + Josh planned a wedding weekend that was centered around exactly that. Being fully present with the people they love the most in a place that already held so much meaning to them.

Growing up in Mesa, Arizona the salt river and AZ mountains have always felt like home. That’s exactly what drew them to Saguaro Guest Lake Ranch. It was the perfect backdrop that felt romantic , colorful , vibrate and completely authentic to who they are.

One of my favorite parts? Having all their loved ones stay onsite for the entire weekend. Instead of squeezing every moment into a single day, they got to slow down, soak it all in & create memories that extend far beyond the wedding itself.

From their meaningful vintage details, to the joyful dance floor moments, every part of their wedding day reflected what mattered the most. Connection, movement, laughter and celebrating their love surrounded by the people who know them best.

And when it came to their photos? They didn’t want perfect poses, they wanted real moments. The kind of images that transport you back to exactly how it all felt.

And honestly? Those are our favorite weddings to document ✨

When Maggie + Branden first reached out to me, they had a clear vision for their Arizona elopement.

She wanted to have their ceremony surrounded by the desert with a few iconic saguaro cacti as the backdrop & from the moment she described it , I immediately knew the perfect location.

What none of us planned for was the weather.

If you remember that wild week in March when Arizona temperatures suddenly jumped into the triple digits? Well that was the day of their elopement. We embraced the heat, took our time and created a day that felt completely true to them.

They chose to keep their wedding intentionally small with only their parents present to witness their ceremony. No large guest lists, no complicated logistics. Just the people who mattered the most.

After their ceremony , they celebrated with a cactus themed cake that fit their desert wedding perfectly before wandering through the landscape for some portraits. When the sun started to set we finished up with one of my favorite parts of the day , some vintage car photos from the incredible .

The best part? Both of those details reflected something important to them. The cacti were Maggie’s number one priority & the vintage car was Branden’s.

Their Arizona elopement wasn’t built around trends or expectations. It truly was built around the things that they loved the most.

There was no hiking for miles to reach the destination, no pressure to turn their elopement into an extreme adventure. Instead we crafted a day that allowed them to be fully present with each other , spending some time with their families & focus on what getting married actually meant.

This is just a reminder that your day doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Whether you’re planning a desert elopement , an intimate wedding or something completely unique , you get to decide what matters the most . Our job is just helping you two bring it to life ✨🤟🏻.

Not every wedding comes with a story like this.

Years before Molly + Kelley exchanged vows, they made things official in Kelley’s parents’ hot tub. When they started planning their Arizona backyard wedding, they knew they wanted to get married in the place where it all began. So they hired someone to build a custom platform over the hot tub and said “I do” right above the spot where their relationship started.

Months before the wedding day, Tyler and I walked the property with them to scout locations and build a photography timeline that reflected their story. What started as a family property transformed into a fully customized wedding venue designed around the places that mattered most to them.

One of their biggest priorities was being present. They wanted time with their guests, but also wanted to experience the locations that they had fallen in love with. Together we built a timeline that allowed them to do both.

We planned time for portraits on the mountain overlooking the neighborhood where they spent countless evenings watching sunsets together. We ran down the road moments after they got married, taking in the excitement of the day. As the sun dropped below the horizon we were blessed with the most gorgeous cotton candy skies. So we rushed back to the house & ran up to the rooftop for some fun flash photos as they looked down at all of their guests that were there to celebrate them.

This is what I love most about Arizona backyard weddings. They give couples the freedom to create a day around their lives, their relationship & and the people they care the most about. Every location has meaning, every part of the timeline has purpose. And the result is a wedding day that is completely their own.

If you’re planning an Arizona backyard wedding, private property or an intimate wedding experience and want your day to be built around the places that matter most to you, I’d love to help you bring your vision to life ✨.
