"🌊✨ Lost in the currents of Clownfish City.
I'm introducing this piece that was born in my mind beneath the waves of the Great Barrier Reef, where a particular coral garden earned the playful nickname from the hundreds of clownfish dancing through the reef. I wanted to capture more than just a photo: the hypnotic pull of the water, the constant gentle motion that draws your eye across the scene, and the depiction of the Milky Way as it shines in the southern sky… only to keep returning to these bold little characters with their bright stripes and curious stares.
Rendered with influences from Aboriginal art, dot work textures, flowing movement, and a deep connection to the living reef, this composite invites your eye to wander, then anchors you right back to the heart of it: the clownfish.
One of nature’s greatest showmen, perfectly at home in their underwater metropolis.

I've shared the rush of getting in the water among the Tigers of Tiger Beach, now I want to step back and let the sharks tell their own story as I shoot.
When shooting without the divers in the frame, the perspective shifts. The energy is still there, the slow, commanding presence of tiger sharks moving through open water, only now I have to be more cognizant of my surroundings because as I step back from the crowd I lose the extra eyes around me that might be there to offer an extra warning. Now it feels more like witnessing the ocean on its own terms. No human reference point, no scale except what the environment provides. Just apex predators moving with purpose in a place that belongs entirely to them.
For me, this side of the work is just as important. It’s about capturing their natural behavior, their interactions, and the quiet authority they carry in their own habitat. Removing the divers doesn’t take away from the experience, it reveals a different layer of it. One that’s less about us being there, and more about understanding what’s always there, whether we show up or not.

Another Manatee Monday. These are actually a week old but I just got around to editing them. Introduced my other nephew to the manatee experience with the cold spell we had last week. Oh.......and the ladies were in the house too.....as shown by the first image. Enjoy.

Last week I attended my nephew's ( #55) hockey tournament here in Jacksonville. These are just a few select images of him and a couple of his friends in action. I decided to experiment with slow shutter speeds in order to give a sense of the action taking place. Let me know what you think.

This time of year, when the weather gets down close to freezing temperatures or lower, the manatees gather in the Florida springs to take advantage of the constant 72 degree water. These are some of the friendly faces of the manatees, shot on the last day of the year 2025. I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed capturing them to share with you.

In the 1960s one of the greatest man made follies in the state of Florida was an attempt to create a barge canal that cut across the state. As part of that effort a pristine cypress swamp and part of the Ocklawaha river were destroyed to make way for what is now known as the Rodman Reservoir. The dam that creates that reservoir has not had its permit renewed and has been the supject of controversy for decades over whether or not to take the dam down and give the land back to the river. Every 4-5 years the reservoir has to be drained about of it's water, about 6 feet worth of depth in order to kill off the hyacinth that starts to choke the lake, revealing the ghost forest of what once was. Yesterday I took the afternoon to explore the Oklawaha as it flows through this ghost forest. I hope you enjoy this images from my day.
It's time to free the Oklawaha and it's springs once and for all.

75 years ago today saw the death of American Hero ENS Jesse Brown at Chosin Reservior in N Korea. LT Tom Hudner, his friend and also a hero received the Medal of Honor for purposely crashing his own F-4U in an attempt to save his friend and shipmate.
This is my tribute to these two, a composite image I put together a few years ago.

Returning after a short pause with one of the Great Barrier Reef’s most iconic partnerships: the clownfish, usually nestled safely among the swaying anemone tentacles but not afraid to confront intruders as they approach.
Their colors, movements, and personalities seem to shift with every change in the current.
Small, expressive, and beautifully framed by their living homes, they’re a reminder of how much wonder lives in the tiny details that often get missed on the reef.
