Could you imagine a town today just picking up and leaving? Only packing the essentials and leaving behind photos, groceries, furniture, dishware? What used to be a town bustling with life, now just a frozen memory and history lesson for the curious minds that are willing to do the drive. While it may seem sad to some, I love that they did. So that we CAN take the drive into the beautiful mountains to catch a glimpse into what life was like and continue to share it; a little bit of old into a world that wants nothing but new.

It's 1878, it's a beautiful sunny day, the streets are bustling with folks, you hear the distant booms of the mining life, and you are strolling hand in hand with your child to the store to gather the things you need. The price of butter was about 15 cents, sugar was about 10 cents, and your husband was making $3 an hour.

Did you know that high up in the mountains of California, almost on the Nevada border, at an elevation of 8,375FT lies the town of Bodie? This beautiful 19th-century mining town now lies in a state of "arrested decay" and is protected State Park. This is just a FEW of the many buildings still standing to this day!
