Dear Veterans Honor Guard Members,
I wanted to share several upcoming events and opportunities that may be of interest to veterans, service members, and their families.
Veterans with Hope – “Coffee with Joe”
Veterans with Hope hosts “Coffee with Joe” on the fourth Friday of each month. Veterans and active-duty service members are invited to enjoy coffee, doughnuts, fellowship, and guest speakers in a welcoming environment.
When: Fourth Friday of each month at 9:00 AM
Location: Streater Community Center, 301 N. Dargan Street, Florence, SC 29501
America 250 Flagpole Dedication Ceremony
Join the Darlington County Library System during Freedom Fest as they commemorate America’s Semiquincentennial with a special Flagpole Dedication Ceremony.
Date: Saturday, June 27
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Darlington Library, 204 North Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532
Military Appreciation Night – Florence Flamingos Baseball
Veterans, active-duty service members, and military families are invited to Military Appreciation Night with the Florence Flamingos.
Date: July 2
Time: 7:00 PM (Gates open at 6:00 PM)
Location: Carolina Bank Field, Florence, SC
Military members and veterans receive a complimentary ticket at the box office with proof of service.
Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC)
The VA’s South Carolina Veterans Experience Action Center will provide one-stop assistance for veterans and their families.
Dates: September 5–7
Hours: Thursday & Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
Location: Florence Center, 3300 W. Radio Drive, Florence, SC 29501 (Gate 5)
Services available include:
VA disability compensation and pension claims assistance
Health care enrollment and benefits information
Mental health counseling resources
Veteran employment and readiness services
HUD-VASH housing assistance
VA Mobile Vet Center services
National Cemetery Administration benefits
State veterans benefits and community partner resources
