Chris and I are still sitting here in total shock. We originally set a goal of $60,000 for our GoFundMe and hit it within hours… and because of your generosity, we were able to increase it to help cover something else Rhys desperately needs — a ramp out our back door so we can safely get him in and out of our home.

There are truly no words big enough to describe what we felt yesterday. The love, support, prayers, messages, shares, donations, and kindness from so many of you absolutely overwhelmed us in the best possible way. You showed up for our family in a way we will never forget.

This journey with Rhys has been full of heartbreak, but there have been moments of beautiful light and yesterday was one of those moments. It truly reminded us how powerful community is and how deeply loved our sweet boy is. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for carrying us, for loving us, for standing beside us, and for helping make Rhys’s world more accessible, comfortable, and full of joy.

We are beyond grateful. We love you all. 🤍

Sharing this is hard because I'm not good at asking for help, but I know how much love surrounds our little family so I'm taking a leap of faith.
These last few months have been really difficult for Rhys. As his MLD has progressed, sitting in a regular car seat has become incredibly painful and uncomfortable for his body. Even short trips around town — doctor appointments, therapy, simple errands — are hard on him.
A wheelchair accessible vehicle would allow Rhys to stay fully supported in his chair and would make everyday life safe and comfortable and longer trips possible again for him. Unfortunately, the cost of a wheelchair accessible vehicle is overwhelming and insurance doesn’t cover any part of it.
Cori, my sister, has started a GoFundMe to help us cover some of the costs so we can make this vehicle a reality for Rhys. If you feel moved to help — whether by donating or simply sharing Rhys’ story — it would mean the absolute world to us. Every donation and every share truly makes a difference and we are so grateful.
Thank you for every prayer, message, and ounce of love you’ve poured into Rhys and our family. We feel it every single day. We truly could not get through this without you.

We always think we want the smiling picture of our kids but so often, my clients LOVE the portraits where their child is NOT smiling. Many times, these portraits are the ones where mom and dad see the real spirit of their child. I love them too- they are quieter and not as flashy but to me, these portraits, like this one, are the ones that really speak to me and tell me a story about who this child is! The most important goal I have when we work together is to ensure that your child's portraits truly reflect who they are. And many times, that's when they're calm, quiet and simply being themselves for me and my camera. You want their little personalities safeguarded so you can always remember who they are today. That's why, I take the time to get to know you, understand your family and really spend time talking to your child. My process is different but that's why my portraits are different! And your child's session is crafted JUST for him or her!
If you would like to learn more about my photography or think that I am just what you're looking for- I would LOVE to talk to you! Just reach out and let's talk!

Parents often want to know how to prepare their kids for their portrait session so they get the best pictures. I love this question (especially as a die-hard, love-planning-every-step kind of person!). But not to disappoint fellow planners- there isn’t a whole lot you can do besides one thing. The best way to prepare your child is to talk about me. If your child is school aged, let them know they’ll be meeting a photographer who is silly and fun. This way, it feels a bit interesting and they’re curious about this silly and fun photographer. If your child is a toddler, I can be a new friend who is silly. It’s really helpful when kids think they’re meeting someone new as opposed to “getting their picture taken”. Some kids are shy and don’t enjoy pictures- especially when they think they HAVE to smile. Some kids don’t like meeting new people but a silly friend is something different. Putting the emphasis on meeting/playing with a new friend is a great way to keep them excited, curious and open to the experience! And the good thing is, I AM silly and fun and their session will be too!

For many moms, having their newborn session within the first 2 weeks of birth is simply not an option. And that is 100% ok! I love photographing young newborns (within the first 2 weeks of birth) AND older newborns (up to 2 months after birth). I think the MOST important thing is for mom and baby to be healthy and ready to have a session. Whether it's physically healing and/or mentally healing, mom should focus on that and not worry about any timeline. And there are SO many beautiful benefits to having an older newborn session:• Gorgeous connection portraits with mom and dad• Siblings are more adjusted and comfortable in their new role and with being around the baby
• Mom and Dad are more comfortable in the new routine

When all is said and done, the goal is to HAVE newborn portraits and a couple of weeks here or there will not change how much you treasure, love and appreciate having these pictures. Please don't worry about timelines- your baby's newborn pictures will be so special regardless of how many weeks have gone by!

As a mom, doesn’t your heart just swell when you see pictures of your children where they’re loving each other!? They’re my favorite ones and the ones I myself cherish the most of my boys! One of the tricks I use to help create portraits like this is a very tiny stool. Really! Kids like a challenge and when I ask them to both sit on the stool, they find a way- and they end up being VERY close to one another (because of the tiny stool!!). I then ask the older sibling to put an arm around the younger sibling “to keep him safe” and whisper in his ear! When they have some fun being that close, more times than not, they love to share hugs, kisses, giggles, etc! But I promise you- the secret is in the small tiny stool. Give it a try- see if it works for you!

One of the BEST pieces of advice my mentor, the incredible , ever gave me was to get down to eye level with the child. It creates such a personal, engaged feel to the portrait so during your session, you'll see me literally lying on the ground with my camera right there, eye level with your munchkin. But what a great portrait....and how different would it feel if this picture was taken from a higher vantage point? So, in sharing the love....when you take home pictures of your little one, get down....get ALL the way down! You'll love the result and the connection you get when you're eye level with your child. Thank you, Jenny Mason!!!

I'm going to tell you a secret! These 4 photographs were taken with this sweet little boy sitting on his mommy's legs. Would you have guessed? Often times, little ones are nervous when we start a session and in order to get them to relax, I have mom stretch her legs out and place her munchkin on her legs. The little one feels good because he's with his mommy and starts to smile, have fun and enjoy what's going on. Mom is enough out of the way that I can use my magical Photoshop skills to take any sign of her out of the portrait and voila....beautiful pictures of your little one! Don't tell anyone our secret!
