When you tend to take on the weight of things it can feel like cheating to step away, but I’m looking for a place to rest my mind. Life and the world and expectations and all the things feel so heavy lately and a sanctuary is so important. Easier to find than take sometimes; but the maddening truth is often that if I don't take rest, I can't continue to serve or help. Wishing you all safe harbor to recharge if and when you need it ❤️

It’s been almost a year since we embarked on an epic road trip. Over 6000 miles with three kids under six - during a pandemic. It was messy and it was beautiful and it was chaos and it was needed. But when I look at the photos from the trip, I disappear. This (scroll over) is the only picture I took of myself the entire time. Aside from a few well meaning stranger phone shots of the family I am not there. I think the disappearing mom, in image and philosophy, is a heart hurt many of us know all too well. We push it down because it’s not a priority - we have people to feed and things to clean and businesses to run. But isn’t that how we got here in the first place? Maybe this year I’ll get in the frame more, I hope I’ll give myself that. And I hope you will too.
