📸 Happy World Photography Day! 📸

Today, August 19th, is World Photography Day—a day to celebrate the art of capturing moments, telling stories, and preserving memories through photographs.

This year’s theme is HOME, and I honestly can’t think of a better word to describe why I love what I do. ❤️

Home isn’t always a house or a specific place. Sometimes home is the people who make you feel safe. It’s your children laughing. It’s the way your family fits together. It’s the little moments you don’t realize you’ll miss until years have passed.

That’s what photography means to me.

As a photographer, I get the incredible privilege of freezing a tiny piece of someone's story in time. Years from now, these photographs will become more than pretty pictures—they’ll be reminders of who you were, who you loved, and what life looked like in that season.

So today, I’m celebrating photography—and all the memories it helps us hold onto.

Dear Parents of the Class of 2027... 🎓🤍

Can you believe it? Your child’s senior year is almost here.

It probably feels like just yesterday you were sending them off for their first day of kindergarten, and now you’re preparing to celebrate one of the biggest milestones of their lives.

This year will be filled with so many “lasts”... the last first day of school, the last homecoming, the last sports season, the last time walking the halls as a high school student.

And before you know it, they’ll be stepping into their next chapter.

Senior photos are about so much more than a yearbook picture. They’re about capturing who your child is right now—their personality, their confidence, their passions, and the person they’ve grown into.

My advice? Don’t wait too long to schedule their session. Senior year gets busy quickly, and yearbook deadlines will be here before you know it. Booking early gives us plenty of time to plan a relaxed, personalized session without the stress of trying to fit it in at the last minute.

How Times Have Changed 📷🤍

If you grew up in the '80s or '90s like I did, chances are your parents didn't take thousands of pictures. In fact, you were lucky if they remembered to bring the camera to birthdays, vacations, or holidays. Film was expensive, you only had so many exposures, and you had to wait days to see how the photos turned out.

Fast forward to today, and our phones hold thousands of photos. We capture everything—from messy breakfasts to soccer games, first days of school, and everyday moments.

And I love that. Keep taking those photos. They're part of your family's story.

But here's something I've noticed...

How many of those photos are actually in focus? How many are high enough quality to print as a large canvas or hang on your wall? And perhaps the biggest question of all...

How many include you? Especially you, Mom.

Not a quick selfie. Not a photo where you're halfway in the frame. A beautiful image of you laughing with your children, holding their hands, or wrapping them in a hug.

That's where professional photography fills the gap.

It's not about replacing the thousands of photos on your phone. It's about creating a handful of timeless images that your children will treasure decades from now. The kind they'll frame in their own homes one day and say, "This was us."

So keep taking the everyday snapshots. Capture the silly moments, the vacations, and the bedtime stories.

But every year—or even every few years—make it a priority to step into the photos, too. Because one day, those professionally captured moments won't just be for you...

"What was I like when I was little?" 🤍

One day, your child is going to ask that question.

What was I like when I was little?

Were they adventurous? Quiet? Silly? Always on the move? Did they love to twirl in dresses, carry around their favorite stuffed animal, or collect rocks and sticks everywhere they went?

As parents, we think we'll remember every little detail. But time has a way of softening memories.

Photographs help us remember.

Not just what our children looked like, but who they were. Their personality. Their expressions. The way they laughed, the way they reached for your hand, the little things that made them uniquely them.

That's why I love what I do. Every session is about preserving this chapter of your family's story so that years from now, when your child asks, "What was I like when I was little?" you'll have more than an answer.

☀️ Summer is here, and if there's one thing I've learned as both a photographer and a parent, it's this:

Always take the picture.

Take the photo at the lake. Take the photo on vacation. Take the photo of the messy popsicle face, the backyard adventures, and the kids who seem to grow an inch overnight.

Life moves fast. Summers feel endless when we're in them, but before we know it, another school year begins and these moments become memories.

The picture doesn't need to be perfect. The lighting doesn't have to be perfect. Just take the picture.

Someday, you'll be so glad you did. 💛📷

What an exciting season of life this is—full of memories, milestones, big dreams, and new beginnings. I’m so proud of all the graduates and everything they’ve accomplished.
