The 🐦 and the 🐝 of 🐻

Brown bears mate in May or June and give birth the next January or February yet their gestation period is only 6-8 weeks…how can that be?

✨delayed embryonic implantation✨

When bears mate (and they can mate with multiple partners) the embryo does not implant in the uterus of the female until she enters her hibernation in which her body will decide if she is fit enough to keep the pregnancy and either either implant the embryo or abort the pregnancy.

what if *i* want to just go flip rocks for snacks all morning and stroll the beach?? Have we ever considered that??? 🐻🪨🦪

We got to see this sub adult brown bear that’s been a little naughty around town looking for some morning seafood snacks while the tide was out. Happy to see him looking for natural foods.
