Chad Ryan - Photojournalist

Chad Ryan - Photojournalist I make pictures. Some people say they're decent. I edit pictures for the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays say my editing is decent. I think that's decent.

I'm the Executive Multimedia Editor for Fighting Irish Preview. Chad Ryan is an award-winning maker of pictures, both still and moving. He is a husband, father, Great Lakes fisherman, amateur BBQ pit boss, UTV off-road driver, and old school Kung Fu movie aficionado. Chad's photographs have been published in the pages of Sports Illustrated, The Sporting News, ESPN The Magazine, USA Today, The Bost

on Globe, The New York Times and numerous other publications and websites around the world. Chad is also the remote photo editor for the Tampa Bay Rays major league baseball team, team photographer for the Fort Wayne Komets ECHL hockey team and Executive Multimedia Editor for Fighting Irish Preview, a website dedicated to the coverage of Notre Dame Football. While he feels at home on the sidelines, in the dugout or just about any place sports happen, Chad also is very capable in the studio setting, making dramatic sports portraits and business portraits both indoors and outdoors with natural and studio light.

Thousands of high school kids across Indiana are kicking off the marching marathon that for many will take them all the way through the middle of November. Homestead Bands SpartanAlliance officially opened its band camp for the 2026 show this week. The musicians and guard performers are busy learning pages and pages of drill and routines as well as putting it all together with their music. Good luck to all the bands, young musicians, performers and their directors on the new season.

Yeah, there’s a chance of rain in the forecast, but that chance drops off significantly by opening kickoff. I’ll be out at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium tonight. You should come too.

Fourth of July, Friendly and Futbol!

In the 14th minute of Saturday’s match, Fort Wayne Football Club’s Taig Healy scored his ninth goal of the season - second most in USL One - to give Fort Wayne an early lead. Then goals from Jeremy Garay and Lilian Ricol finished off Spokane Velocity FC for the 3-0 victory in the grand opening of Ruoff Mortgage Stadium. The win extends FWFC’s unbeaten streak in league play to 11 games.

Before all that, the club unveiled its mascot, Friendly the Goal-rilla. After all that fans took in a 45-minute fireworks show.

Busy doesn't begin to describe my last few weeks and the rest of May. But there are worse problems to have. I appreciate the trust my clients put in me, and wouldn't have it any other way. So here are a few pictures from the last two Fort Wayne Football Club matches Wednesday and Saturday nights. By the way, get out to a match. It really is a fun environment even if you're not necessarily a fan of the sport ... just yet.

I wish I would've had more time to get pictures of Three Rivers Regiment enjoying their club's spirited play and the atmosphere of Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville last night. I was busy working a baseball game that didn't get done until 15 minutes before kickoff. But I think it's safe to say Coach Avery and the boys appreciatchya:

The Fort Wayne Komets finished the regular season with a 4-3 win over Kalamazoo to get to 100 points and move ahead of Toledo for first place in the Central Division.

Interestingly, Josh Bloom, who had played the majority of the season with Kalamazoo, scored the game-winning goal with about five minutes left in the game to knock his former team out of the playoffs. Bloom came to the Komets a little more than a month ago when the Komets’ NHL affiliate Edmonton Oilers traded Jayden Grubbe to the Wings’ affiliate Vancouver Canucks for Bloom.
