I took my first trip to Pine Junction on June 29th with Caleb Briggs and we saw a ton of trains. One of my favorite shots was this train meet here of an eastbound train on the CSX Garrett Sub and a westbound train on the Norfolk Southern Chicago Line. The CSX train had the Seaboard heritage unit trailing and while this isn't exactly a scenic area, you see almost non-stop train activity.

On 6/18/26, CSX train E738 passes by a set of old searchlight signals on the KD Subdivision at Habersham, Tennessee. This is a former L&N line. We had to walk up a pretty steep hill to get to this spot!

Train M653 goes by the former mine loadout at McVicker near Shelbiana, Kentucky on 6/21/26. The tower here is the only part of the mine complex still standing. Everything else off to my left has been torn down and is now a grassy area. This is on the CSX Big Sandy Subdivision

On 6/18/26, train E738 goes through Rocky Top, Tennessee on the CSX KD Sub. The train is led by two units in the YN2 paint scheme which is becoming increasingly rare these days. We ended up chasing this train all the way to Corbin, Kentucky.

In the last light of the day, Norfolk Southern train 143 makes it's way through South Whitley, Indiana on the Chicago District passing the grain elevator and a string of still standing code line poles. This was my last shot of the day after returning from the Pine Junction area.

CSX train M653 heads across the Copper Creek trestle on it's way to Kingsport Tennessee on the CSX Kingsport Sub on 6/20/26. The trestle below that one is a Norfolk Southern line that doesn't see much traffic. The water in this area was still pretty high from recent rainfalls so we didn't have a lot of room to move back and get our shots.

The Union Pacific Big Boy makes it's way east through Edgerton, Indiana on 6/6/20 on the Norfolk Southern Fostoria District. We heard that there were a few issues with their PTC system which caused them to leave around 40 minutes later than expected. This was a definite blessing because we had storms roll through about the time it should have originally come through and since there was a delay, the rain stopped about 10 minutes before it came through.

I never thought I'd see the Union Pacific Big Boy in the state of Indiana but it came through here yesterday and I was fortunate enough to get it in several locations. Here at Claypool, Indiana, this was my location of the day. The train is headed east through town and everywhere I went had big crowds out to see it.

I wasn't expecting to see anything on the CF&E Railroad when I was on my way home from northwest Indiana on May 21st but as I was going east on U.S. 30, a train went by going west so I turned around and chased it for a bit. Here, the train is at Wanatah, Indiana and is at the spot where the Monon used to cross. This train was being led by it's America 250 unit and this was my first time seeing it.

I had to take advantage of the fog this morning any get a couple shots. Here, a Norfolk Southern train is about to cross Nuttman Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana on the Norfolk Southern Huntington District. I sat here for an hour with nothing running and then had three trains withing a half hour.
