Maybe worn out doesn’t mean finished.
Sometimes it just means becoming something you never expected.
A pair of old boots grows a garden. A tired little structure settles into the landscape like it belongs there.

I think I’ll always have a soft spot for things that get to become something else instead of being thrown away. ♻️

Well, look who I found again.
January 2025, West Central.
August 2026, Bloomingdale.
Nineteen months and a different Fort Wayne neighborhood later, apparently this little guy gets around. 😂
I photographed him the first time without ever expecting to see him again. Then there he was, headphones still on, just hanging out on another side of town.
👀Now I kind of need to know where he turns up next.

The sky had been threatening rain all afternoon. The kind of day when the radio fades in and out, the windows stay cracked, and you keep driving without much reason to hurry home.
A steeple appeared above the trees somewhere along the way.
Later, the tracks disappeared into the mist.

How many lives have passed through places like this. How many mornings started before the sun came up. How many storms were watched from the doorway. How many generations knew every creak in those old boards without ever thinking twice about it.
The people change. The years keep moving.

The last movie had ended, but the lights never went out.
Down the road, the old phone began to ring.
Once.
Twice.
By the third ring, the red cross at the edge of town flickered to life.
Then, one by one, the rest of the lights followed.

Funny thing is…
the town had been empty for years.
