i hear many of you friends say often that you get nervous & don’t know what to do with yourself in front of a camera. before i became a photographer, I felt this hardcore. i never knew what to do with my hands, and i would end up pulling out some odd dance move that looked more like a robot that shorted a circuit haha. a lot of this stemmed from feeling not so photogenic. but a lil secret that I actually learned from you guys. EVERYONE IS PHOTOGENIC!!! like literally everyone. being photogenic, or having pictures of yourself that you actually love, is simply just being yourself. & you don’t have to be a photographer to change your perspective on that. here are a few tips that i’ve learned along the way that have helped me:
⌓ get to know your photographer! go for a coffee date with me for your consult! it’s important to get to know the other side of the lens in a setting you’re comfortable with. or, if I’m shooting your wedding, book your engagement with me. this will help ease you and your partner into being in front of a camera together, and you will already have a session under your belt for your wedding day!
⌓ find out what angles suit you best. this may seem silly, but stand in front of a mirror and take time to see what poses you prefer on your body. this will help you be more confident when coming to your session, already knowing what your comfortable doing. Obvi as your photog i will be there to guide you, but a little confidence never hurt anyone!!
⌓ have fun! i know that sounds cliché but it’s fundamental. focus on enjoying the moment with your significant other, or getting lost in your favorite lyrics to your favorite song. having a good time translates so well to your photos, and allows you to be fully present in the moment too!!
i hope this was helpful for you. pls remember im here to be your biggest hype girl. its my job & I believe my calling to capture the beauty i see in you, and share it back to you. now go crush your next shoot with your photogenic self. Love you ☻
