Montague TX

I had been wanting to get a photo of the Montague TX windmills for some time after seeing others' photos over the year. On 6/11/26, our local photo club had ventured to the town of Nocona TX, and we were reminded of how close we were to the windmills, which are a private collection by a noted Nocona family, the Fenoglios. They are right on the highway just outside of downtown Montague for all to enjoy, and we were lucky enough to have some of those beautiful Texas summer skies on this afternoon.

One of the first photos taken with my new Olympus EM10 Mark IV. On the way to Lubbock and noticed this vivid sunset framed by the wind turbines. I pulled off the highway and got this shot. This is a cropped photo without processing.

This was shot with a Sony a9, Sony 70/200. F2.8 106mm 1/800. All natural lighting.
We had a storm right before this shoot. We used the recent rain to our advantage. I found a puddle and used the opportunity capture this gentle dog resting and waiting for the next shot.

Oso Bay Park, Corpus Christi, Texas

Seeing a Painted Bunting is such a treat! One of the most colorful birds and related to the cardinal, they are small and very fast flyers. The day we were visiting Oso Bay Park, there was quite a few of these beautiful birds teasing us with glimpses of them through the trees.
I was shooting with my Nikon Z8 and using my Sigma 60-600 lens.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam. 7 minute exposure. During such a long exposure the clouds would move and streak. Also, the boats would be very unsharp as they were moving slightly with the wake of passing boat, wind, etc. So.....one straight shot get everything sharp. Then 16 stops of ND (being extremely careful not to move the camera as I screwed the filters onto the lens) then a 7 minute exposure to make the water look smooth and silky. Combine the best of both in PS and viola'!

Lefty Busts a Move

Lefty is a wild mustang in Wyoming's Salt Wells Creek. He went missing from his band, which is large and competitive, in February. In May, I ran into Lefty in the Creek hanging out with fellow stallion Ziggy, and as he approached me, he started bucking and zooming like a young foal.
