Awards are interesting.

They have your name on them, but they never really belong to just one person.

Last week I was fortunate enough to receive Graphic Artist / Album Cover of the Year for the Album cover WEATHERBOY by Payton Riley at the TexasCountryMusicAssociation Industry Awards for the second year in a row.

Both winning album covers were created for Payton Riley , one this year and one last year. That’s no coincidence. Her music has always given me something worth creating around, and I’m grateful she trusted me to help tell those stories visually.

This year’s cover was especially fun because this cover didn’t happen with the click of a camera. It began as an idea. Every element was created one at a time, from the concept and wardrobe to photographing Payton on location, and then I brought every individual piece together to create the final album cover. That’s the part of creativity I love most: taking a vision that only exists in my head and making it real.

Thank you to everyone who nominated me and to everyone who voted. Your confidence in my work is something I’ll never take for granted.

I also want to congratulate every nominee and recognize the artists, songwriters, musicians, photographers, designers, producers, and everyone behind the scenes who pours their heart into this industry every single day. The award may have one person’s name on it, but it represents an entire community of people who continue to inspire one another.

If you’ve known me for very long, you’ve probably heard me say this more than once:

“There are only 3 colors, 10 digits and 12 notes. It’s what we do with them that’s important.”

It’s a reminder that creativity has never been about having more than someone else. It’s about seeing something different in what we’ve all been given.

Thank you Linda Wilson for pouring your dedication into this industry over the years and including me.

Thank you for allowing me to keep doing what I love.

But here's the thing about storms: they don't show up to break you; they show up to reveal you.
Every gust of wind, every moment where visibility drops to zero... that's where your strength steps forward. Not the kind you post about, but the kind you live through. The kind that builds you quietly while nobody's watching.
And when the storm finally clears, and it always does, you don't walk out as the same version of yourself. You walk out sharper, clearer, wiser, more aligned with who you're becoming.
Weather the storm. Don't fear it.
You're not just surviving it; you're being shaped by it.
