One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is that they don't have to be one thing.

They can be polished and intentional while still leaving room for the moments in between. The ones you couldn't plan if you tried.
This session felt like the perfect balance of both. A little editorial, a little documentary. We spent the evening wandering through the trails and gardens at the Nichols Arboretum in Ann Arbor, watching the skies and wondering if it would rain at all.

After rain on and off for most of the day, it somehow gave us the window we needed. Though if we're being honest...we were secretly hoping for one final downpour at the end for a full-on Notebook moment. ;)

While we didn't get the downpour we were hoping for at the end, we did get incredible soft light, beautiful blooms, and a whole lot of moments that felt like them.

Some nurseries just instantly feel like home.

Lennon Mae’s space was filled with warm neutrals, sweet details, and so much love tucked into every corner. The kind of room that tells a story before baby even arrives home. 🤍

These first days go by in such a blur. Tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, and all the little details you never want to forget. It was such an honor to document this season for the Purchases, and I can't wait for them to see the full gallery! Here's a little sneak peek. ❤

I don't think this little guy expected his chickens to steal the spotlight. 🤣

One minute we were taking family photos, and the next he had a full flock determined to be part of the session. I can't really blame them.

It's hard to beat a session that comes with its own surprise guests.

A few years from now, these little faces will look different. They'll be taller, more independent, and so many of the tiny details that feel everyday right now will have quietly changed.

That's why I love family photos. Not because the wardrobe is perfect, or everyone is posed just right.. but because they preserve the little things we never realize we're going to miss someday...the way tiny hands reach for mom, the way dad makes everyone laugh, and the way a family simply feels in this moment.

So grateful for evenings like this surrounded by cherry blossoms and some of Northern Michigan's sweetest families.

A little graduation post for these two! 🎓🤍

Some sessions are about celebrating a milestone. This one was about celebrating two people who have spent the last four(ish) years making the absolute most of every opportunity that came their way.

Logan graduated with an early college degree already completed with honors, while Sadie filled her high school years with involvement in the International Thespian Society, Student Leadership Organization, Beta Chi Theta, Madrigals, Key Club, National Art Honor Society, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, and Blueberry Ambassadors. (Busy gal, I know.)

Reading through everything they've accomplished, it's easy to be impressed by the titles, organizations, and achievements. But what really stands out most is their character. Their willingness to show up, work hard, and invest in the people and communities around them.

Downtown Flint gave us the perfect backdrop to celebrate this season, a season filled with accomplishments worth recognizing and memories worth holding onto.

Congratulations, Logan & Sadie. You've already accomplished so much, and I have no doubt the best is still ahead of you!! 🎓✨

Cherry blossom season is always worth the wait. I almost didn't host them this year, but am so glad I did! This was one of my largest sets, so far. This maternity session in Williamsburg, just outside of Traverse City, was the perfect excuse to spend an evening among the blooms and document this season of life before everything changes.

I’m so excited for this next chapter for these three. 🤍
