If you’re worried your cat will hide the whole time, I understand… so many pet parents feel this way.

Here’s what I want you to know: you don’t have to make them perform.

I plan for the hiding spots. I bring playful tools. I stay flexible.
And most importantly, I give them time.

Because the goal isn’t “perfect behavior.”
The goal is a calm portrait experience where your cat gets to be exactly who they are… and you get to breathe again too.

You leave feeling reassured that the love you share is real and enough.

I know I don’t get forever with my fur baby.

And that’s exactly why so many pet parents keep putting a pet portrait experience off.

Not because they don’t care…
but because caring this much makes it feel heavy.

You tell yourself you’ll do it when life is calmer.
When your pet is better trained.
When you feel more put-together.
When you’re not so tired.

But love doesn’t wait for perfect circumstances.

If this has been sitting in the back of your mind for months… that’s not random. That’s your heart trying to protect you from future regret.

You have so many photos of your pet… but nothing that shows how much they mean to you.

And part of the reason is this fear you don’t say out loud:

“What if they won’t cooperate?”
“What if they hide?”
“What if it’s chaotic and I feel embarrassed?”

I understand; so many pet parents feel this way.

Cats will be cats. The unpredictable moments aren’t a problem to fix… they’re often the whole point.

(Also: yes, cats are easier than toddlers. Don’t come @ me.)

I don’t need attention. I just want respect for what I did.

If you’ve ever wanted to be honored… but not turned into a headline, a stereotype, or a conversation you didn’t ask for, this is for you.

That’s exactly why Honor Her exists: a coffee table book that showcases women veterans and raises money for Hold Your Horses Wellness Farm, a nonprofit supporting veterans, individuals, and families through equine-assisted services and nature-based wellness experiences.

You can be seen with dignity.
And you stay in control of what’s shared.

You’ll go from rushing through life to slowing down and feeling connected.

There’s a moment I watch for in every portrait experience.

It’s not when everyone is looking at the camera.
It’s the exhale.

When the pressure leaves your shoulders, and you realize:
“I don’t have to control everything for this to be beautiful.”

That’s what I saw with Angie… on her property, surrounded by the animals who help her help other women heal.

Not a performance.
A family.

And the artwork they chose will live in their space as a daily reminder of what’s true.

Senior portraits can look like a checkbox on the calendar.

But you and I both know this isn’t really about photos.

It’s a handoff.

A moment to pause long enough to see who she is becoming…
before dorm rooms, new friends, new routines, new miles.

And when life speeds up again, that’s what you come back to:
a reminder on your wall that she’s steady… and you’re still connected.

She feels connected to her, even from miles away.

You have so many photos of your pet… but nothing that shows how much they mean to you.

Not because you don’t love them.

But because phone photos don’t hold the whole story…
the way they look at you when you’re finally still,
the weird little habits that make you laugh,
the quiet companionship that has carried you through more than you admit.

And if you’re the “strong one,” you probably don’t stop long enough to let it really land.

Every time you walk by it, you feel warm and fuzzy about the love you share.

You don’t need attention; you just want respect for what you did.

Not a spotlight.
Not a performance.
Just a steady, honest reflection of the woman you are now.

That’s why some women choose to be part of Honor Her… a coffee table book that showcases women veterans and raises money for Hold Your Horses Wellness Farm, a nonprofit supporting veterans, individuals, and families through equine-assisted services and nature-based wellness experiences.

Because it’s not about being “featured.”
It’s about being witnessed with dignity.

Every time you walk past your wall, you remember: this mattered, and so do I.

If you’ve ever felt that, you’re not alone.

When you care deeply, it’s normal to want every detail to feel right.

So here’s what I do… especially for on-property portrait experiences with multiple animals:

I plan the scene before we ask anyone (human or animal) to “perform”

I build the portrait in layers (we get one piece right at a time)

I bring support so you’re not juggling attention, leashes, and logistics

I keep the energy calm, because animals mirror what’s happening inside us

You don’t have to hold it all together to be worthy of being seen.

You just get to show up with the ones you love, and I’ll guide the rest.

She told me she doesn’t normally like herself in photos.

But when she saw her favorites, she said they felt like a true representation of her…
and she liked them.

That’s the part I wish every senior girl could experience before the world gets louder.

Not a version of her that’s performing.
Not a version of her that’s trying to be “enough.”

Just her, comfortable, understood, quietly confident.

She can finally breathe, because she can see her senior is ready.
