Me, checking the clock at 4:58pm on a Friday. 🙋
This isn't actually a "yesss it's Friday" stretch though (sorry to ruin it) — prairie dogs have a move called the "jump-yip," where they rear up, throw a paw skyward, and let out a call. Depending on the moment, that same move can mean two very different things to the colony: the all-clear after a threat has passed, or a warning that something's still out there. Neighboring prairie dogs pick it up and pass it along, so the message ripples through the whole colony in seconds.
So this guy isn't celebrating the weekend — he's broadcasting something everyone underground needs to hear. Still doesn't make it any less relatable. 😄
Got this on the 200-600mm from far enough back that he never clocked me, so the colony kept doing its normal thing — no interruption, no altered behavior, just a clean read on how they actually communicate out here.
