Today is world day for cultural diversity for dialogue and development.

The more I think about this, the more I know without a doubt that to be open and curious about our differences, allows us to have a more fruitful and sustainable and harmonious life.

Take a moment and check out my sister-friends’ Instagram, page, and website.

What if we were to try to make a connection where we haven’t tried before? What if we could be curious about learning something about our fellow humans on this one wild and beautiful earth?

There are some great books out there to open doors to our thinking and support a life, rich in connection and finding new ways to break barriers and build bridges.

it’s amazing to find out that we ALL each benefit from learning more about one another.

Here is a sneak peek of my most recent project I’ve been working on for the last several months.

Artist in Residence project at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

I’m in the process of exploring ways to present the project to the Good Shepherd Community.

This came together today as I was working on the writings and the images today. I’m so very near completing the project.

It’s been a very worthwhile project, meeting many of the individuals of the Good Shepherd Community.

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Sally Martin over the years. And the pleasure has been all mine.

The Inspiration Project

Origin Story

I started a Portrait Journal of special people who intrigued me. It was the start of something dear to me and has become a staple of the work I love to engage in, explore and create.

I have fond memories of Mr, Bert Kessler who helped me create my first logo for my business back in the late 80’s. He also helped me decide and design a lovely business stationery. It was always a joy coming in to see him, in his old fashioned print shop in Silver Spring, MD. The people in our community that help us grow, become an important part of our business and more importantly, community.

It’s a must share again. And you can see my process here a little from the idea, to the sketch, to the set as we shot it. Thank you Tammy Tammy O'Connor C21 Redwood for your support on shoot day.
Thank you Kim Reyes Makeup, LLC for your beautiful work on makeup, hair and so much much more. Thank you Jamie for bringing the vision of this dress to fruition! Jamie Loucks Cristali

Waiting for Signs: Story of the Day

"I used to wait for a sign, she said, before I did anything. Then one night I had a dream & an angel in black tights came to me & said, you can start any time now, & then I asked is this a sign? & the angel started laughing & I woke up. Now, I think the whole world is filled with signs, but if there's no laughter, I know they're not for me."

This passion project grew out of a love of stretching my creativity and telling visual and written stories about everyday people who inspire me.

Hoping just one person/subject here inspires someone in a way that we might build a more compassionate community or connect the good within ourselves and around us.

Throw back Friday- a little about what my goal here is….

A few years ago in spring, I curated, organized and photographed my friend, and Candidate for the Inspiration Project- Julie Gaver.

I’ve long been an admirer of Julie Gaver and her efforts to gather women together to learn new things, ideas, or connect on some level in a meaningful way to be in a community of people putting service above self.

Whether it was a book club meeting to discuss the writings and ideas of notable authors such as Brené Brown or Mel Robbins and find new ways to grow, stretch or practice life more gently or meaningfully, to her garden parties welcoming women and businesses to gather in fellowship and bring copious amount of shoes for the children in need to have access to a new pair of shoes for first day of school and the new school year.

I came up with this idea to capture Julie with a huge, balloon-bouquet of flowers made of shoes to celebrate her offering of shoes and her love of blooms in gardens and planting seeds in each of us to bloom too.

Thank you Tammy O’Connor for your support and help creating the shoe bouquets for this project.

Can’t wait to create and curate more like this.

So blessed to see.

Today, I am called to embark on a new thing! This light filled passion project has sparked the interest of the Communication Committee at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in Frederick, MD, through my friend and fellow artist, Sarah Irani. If you didn’t already know, Sarah is a sculptor by profession. Her capable hands and talented mind are responsible for the creating of Claire McCardell, a larger than life public artwork-statue of our very own fashion designer on the creek.

The passion Project also known as Celebrating the Light is a vehicle for my on going body of work of visual and narrative storytelling of our local Frederick residents who help make change.

Through the help of a grant developed by Sarah and Jan, I have been asked to be An Artist in Residence at Good Shepherd. Finding new creative ways to communicate their stories.

In learning more about someone, hearing their unique stories, we can look beyond the physical and engage in ways with the human person on another level of finding something inspirational in them that helps us make better connections, connect people in new meaningful ways, be inspired to do the good or appreciate someone on a new level. Which in turn helps build a community of good meaning people breaking boundaries and reaching farther to bring hope and connection to all people
I’ll be spending a good deal of time with the Good Shepherd community to get to know them and begin to share their stories in a way to help connect them to other like minded folks ready to engage with them at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Stay tuned- highlights will most likely pop@up here as well as on the Good Shepherd page.

Please like and follow and invite your friends to see this work. I feel blessed and honored to have this opportunity to creatively connect and share the stories of the community of people at Good Shepherd, and Celebrate their Light.
