I’m gonna play nice here. But I’m also going to remind all of you. When you see content creators in the infield… you are seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of their workload. So let me put it into perspective.
When you TAKE one of our images and I am speaking for EVERY SINGLE CONTENT CREATOR ON THE TRACK, remove the water mark, and use it for your promotional purposes, you are taking upwards of SIXTEEN hours of work, for ONE race, not counting drive time. You’re taking 6-8 sometimes 10-12 hours of on-track/pit walking without sitting down and sometimes without even using the bathroom. You’re taking 6am bedtimes from editing all night before the next event starts the next day, getting up on 3.5 hours of sleep to do it all again living on coffee and beef jerky.
You’re taking all of that… our passion, our livelihood, our YEARS of hard work, and you’re stepping all over it.
So, I propose a common sense resolution. Either credit the artist, leave the watermark, or don’t use our work.
It’s that simple. And I’ll tell you right now I don’t care if you don’t like me because of this message. I am and will continue to advocate for every single person I see with a camera on that dirt track every single day if it becomes my full-time job! People may think we are in competition but we are one big ass club! And you ain’t in it!
I think some of these pages forget these aren’t your images. They are ours. And we are being kind enough to post them on socials and let you use them in good faith that you will do what’s right, and credit the guys and gals who LONG after race day are still cleaning dirt off their lenses and out of their body parts!
Do right!
Happy Monday!
