My Son Kai bought a National Geographic metal detector at Barnes and Noble over the weekend. I was unsure of how good it would work because it’s for kids. We took it out front and within the first minute of using it found a quarter buried under the grass. We were all pretty excited. We ended up finding a bunch of coins and bottle caps after. I think this will be a fun thing to do with the boys.

We have another double digit child. Little Drew is now 10 years old and he’s a music lover like myself and my Dad. Not to say that my wife isn’t a music lover too but Drew loves to play instruments too like my Dad and I. My moms Dad was also a musician and my Dads dad played guitar and sang too so it’s in little Drew’s genetics I guess. We love watching him find interests in new things when it’s makes him happy. Eventually I’ll teach him and Kai how to record with all my studio equipment. I hope they fall in love with it like I did when I was young.

This church in Rio Vista is definitely one of my favorite churches that I have photographed. I love the way this old Minolta alpha 20mm lens creates such incredible contrast. This lens always has the camera, exposing really strong for the highlights which darkens the sky behind the subject, as if I was using a red filter. I sometimes will use a red filter with this lens, but no filter was used here.
