Parenting is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It is not for the faint of heart. It breaks you in ways you didn't know you could be broken. You realize how selfish you can be. Pet peeves come to the surface.
But then you have moments like these. I was reminded that I'm raising caring people. People that will show up for one another. People that will take you by the hand and say, "You've got this. Let's go together." People that choose each other.
Then, I realized, I was blessed to be a part of building this behind the scenes. The tears, the prayers, the discipline, the consequences, and all that comes with raising God-fearing people. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way perfect. But I trust the one who is.
Keep showing up parents. You're doing the best work. Be encouraged by these moments.
We can raise amazing people.
"This job [of motherhood] has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness.”
― Elisabeth Elliot
