Here is a watercolor, which I was commissioned to do by an out-of-town client as a gift for his wife. Her favorite vacation spot is Hatteras Island, and there's a specific part of the beach that holds special meaning to her. My client insisted that I include the ramp sign as well ("Ramp 55", as it's called). So I did.

Hi, everybody! My studio will be closed this week due to me needing to make "repairs" - hernia repairs, that is!

Please bear with me. Hopefully, I'll be taking studio appointments again soon.

(Don't worry about your website orders. I'll be taking good care of those. Thanks!)

I seldom go to Hatteras Inlet anymore without my camera, and it's a good thing! This is "Three's A Crowd", which I caught one evening when three youths played with the surf and light played with the sand to create this beautifully textured scene.

"Three's A Crowd" can be purchased at my Hatteras Island studio or online at https://www.artbylindab.com/product-page/three-s-a-crowd if you'd like it shipped.

Sometimes I take photos just for me. This is one I thought I'd share, though, only because the light created such interesting patterns and textures on the wall and little Flossie Mae, a recently adopted kitten.

May the Light be with you!

It's almost the weekend! If you're a Creative, try to find time to work on your craft these next few days, whether you're a visual artist, a writer, a musician, or a performer. It's important.

I've photographed countless sunsets here on Hatteras but none like this one. That sky... Oh my goodness! The heavens were ablaze with an astonishing beauty like I'd never seen. Even the land and the water were ignited with that same spectacular "fire". After several clicks of my camera, I just stood there until night descended.

"Sky Fire" is one of my Photos from the Edge. If you're as taken with this image as much as I am, purchase it at my island studio or get free shipping when you order online at https://www.artbylindab.com/product-page/sky-fire.

The rhythms of Nature are reassuring. They continue without a care, unaffected by the concerns of the world.

On Hatteras, Autumn waltzes in while the wings of the Osprey beat a path south. Soon the migration of the Monarchs through the maritime woods will pick up tempo, and gold will build its crescendo in the dunes.

I find comfort in these things, the familiar and the enduring. They connect me to what's important in Life. My Photo from the Edge, "Awash in Blue", reminds me of this. Need a reminder? Order online at https://www.artbylindab.com/product-page/awash-in-blue and get free shipping or purchase at my Hatteras Island studio.

Storms come and storms go. I caught this dramatic scene one morning when a storm was going out to sea. In its wake, was a melody sung by the ebb and flow of the Hatteras tide, whispering the promise of a new day.

Start YOUR day with this "Morning Song", one of my Photos from the Edge. Purchase it locally at my Hatteras Island studio or online at https://www.artbylindab.com/product-page/morning-song if you're off-island. FREE shipping.

Labor Day brings the unofficial end of summer and a quiet, reflective mood. Max Ehrmann once wrote, "Keep burning in me the kindly light of hope... And may the evening's twilight find me gentle still." Those words perfectly match how I felt capturing this evening shot on the Pamlico Sound.

"Time of Reflection", one of my Photos from the Edge, is available with free shipping at https://www.artbylindab.com/product-page/time-of-reflection and can also be purchased in person at my Frisco studio.

Today in the US, we celebrate Labor Day, which honors the American labor movement and the contributions working folks have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

This iconic poster is a depiction of "Rosie the Riveter". It represents the American women, who worked in factories during World War II, many of whom played a huge part in the war effort by producing munitions and war supplies.

In 1942, J. Howard Miller was commissioned by the US government to do a series of motivational posters for factory workers. One of those factory workers, 17-year-old Geraldine Hoff Doyle, was the inspiration for THIS poster. She died in 2010 at the age of 86.
