This week's Music Monday post is one of my earliest music photos - it's Roy Acuff, the King of Country Music, onstage at the Grand Ole Opry in the mid-1980s. It's far from a perfect photo, but it captures a moment from a far different era in country music. If I remember correctly, I took this photo from my seat at the Opry using a Pentax K1000 camera, a 200mm lens, and Kodacolor 400 film. Photo technology has come a long way since then!

Hubert Sumlin, longtime guitarist for Howlin' Wolf, onstage with the Nigthawks at the Kennedy Center in the late 1990s is this week's Music Monday photo.

This photo was taken on Kodak T-Max 3200 black and white film. The grainy, high speed film was one of the few options for taking low light concert photos at the time. Times have changed over the past 25 years!

Norfolk & Western 611 awaiting its morning run on the Buckingham Branch Railroad on Saturday, October 7, 2023. The engine was built in 1950 by N&W in the railroad’s Roanoke shop and was used on the railroad’s passenger service until it was retired in 1959. Today, it is owned by the Virginia Museum of Transportation and is used occasionally as the power on tourist excursions.
