A couple of days ago, Joe and I made our way back to Great Sand Dunes National Park, a place we find ourselves returning to regularly. One of our favorite things to do there is wander through Medano Creek, but this year the creek was mostly dry. While we missed the flowing water, the scenery certainly didn’t disappoint.

The highlight of the trip was finally checking something off our bucket list: driving Medano Pass. We’ve talked about doing it for years, and this time we made it happen. The road was an adventure in itself, winding through incredible mountain and dune landscapes that reminded us why this area is one of the most unique places in Colorado.

Sometimes a trip doesn’t unfold exactly as expected. The creek wasn’t there, but we came home with new memories, a bucket-list experience, and some beautiful views of the dunes beneath the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

Great Sand Dunes never seems to disappoint.

Just 15 minutes from home, yet it felt like a completely different world.

Hubby and I spent yesterday morning exploring a section of McGinnis Canyon near Fruita and were treated to incredible canyon views, dramatic cliffs, and endless desert scenery. It’s a good reminder that some of the best adventures are literaly hiding right in our own backyard.

What's hiding in your backyard? Would love to see yours!

This might be one of the coolest things I’ve seen this week 👁️🔥

An iris booth captures the detail of your eye and turns it into a piece of art—every pattern, every color, completely unique.

Up close, it’s unreal how much detail is there… and even more incredible seeing it transformed into something this bold and creative.

Photography really is everywhere—you just have to look a little closer.

Yesterday at Texas School, we took things outside the classroom and into a live event at Cowboys Red River Dancehall & Saloon—and it did not disappoint.

Over 800 guests were invited, and throughout the night people came through with friends to experience the two photo booth setups we had—a print booth and a social booth. These images are from the social booth, where AI transforms your photo into something completely different—and honestly, it was a blast.

Watching people light up, laugh, and jump back in line to try another version… that’s when it really clicked. This isn’t just photography—it’s an experience.

I am so happy I steeped outside my comfort zone this week (from landscapes and wildlife into people-focused photography), and I’m seeing firsthand how powerful—and fun—this side of the industry can be.

More to come… this is just the beginning.

Stepping outside my comfort zone this week at Texas School of Professional Photographers—and I’m actually loving it.

Most of you know me for landscapes and wildlife, where patience and quiet moments tell the story. But this week, I’m diving into something completely different… working with people and exploring the world of photo booth experiences.

It’s fast-paced, creative in a whole new way, and definitely pushing me to think differently behind the camera. From lighting to interaction to capturing personality in seconds—it’s a whole new skill set.

Growth doesn’t happen in the comfortable places, and this week is proof of that.

Excited to see where this leads and how I can bring some of this energy back into my work.

Just when I thought I had a feel for the rhythm of safari life in South Africa… My experience deepened with a different level of connection in Botswana.

More raw. More immersive. Less predictable. Every sighting felt earned—long drives, quiet anticipation, and those moments where you turn a corner and suddenly… everything changes.

Wildlife, completely present in their world. No script. No guarantees. Just real, powerful encounters you feel as much as you see.

These images are pieces of that experience—captured just a few weeks ago in March, and still sitting with me.

After an incredible week in South Africa, I was in Botswana for the first time… and everything shifted.

The pace slowed. The landscape opened up. And I started noticing the details I might have missed before—especially the birds.

What began as simply appreciating them quickly turned into chasing light, color, and those fleeting moments in the trees. Tiny movements, quick turns, and bursts of color that disappear if you’re not ready.

This part of the journey reminded me that not everything in the wild demands attention… some of it quietly earns it.

Captured just a few weeks ago in March—still replaying these moments & loving every moment.

Some weeks stay with you… Just a few weeks ago, this was one of them for me.

I rather enjoyed a full week of slowly moving through South Africa—turning corners, scanning the bush, waiting in the quiet… never quite knowing what might appear next.

And then, suddenly… there they were.

Elephants emerging from the trees. Lions resting in the grass, watching. Birds catching the light just long enough to remind you how small and fleeting a moment can be.

Nothing was staged. Nothing was guaranteed. Every sighting was earned through patience, presence, and a willingness to simply look… a little deeper, a little longer.

This collection is more than just images—it’s a story of seeking. Of trusting the process. Of finding something incredible just beyond the next turn.

Hope you find a moment that you can relate with here. It was all so incredible. I found it difficult to pick my favorites.

Out exploring more of Utah’s backcountry this morning — starting with first light on the La Sals & Tombstone Butte.

That early glow over the desert set the tone — soft color, layered distance, quiet stillness before the day wakes up.

On the way out, we stopped at Secret Spire — a balanced tower of sandstone catching stronger light, shadows carving texture and depth into every curve.

From wide-open negative space to sculpted stone, it was a morning of reading the sky and letting the light lead.

Photography out here isn’t rushed. It unfolds.
