Turning motion into a modern Christmas storybook. This cinematic color grade was designed to feel warm, timeless, and nostalgic, with soft highlights, gentle contrast, and rich tones that bring a holiday narrative to life frame by frame. Every adjustment was intentional, shaping mood, emotion, and visual continuity so the story feels as cozy as it looks. 🎄

This is where color becomes part of the storytelling.

Every cinematic drone shot begins long before the grade. From selecting the right flight path to managing exposure, profiles, and dynamic range, each step builds toward a controlled final look. This grade breaks down my full workflow: capturing flat for maximum flexibility, balancing shadows and highlights, dialing in color separation, and refining contrast to create depth in the landscape. The goal is simple—turn raw aerial footage into a polished, story-driven visual.

Bali through a cinematic lens

Spent the week capturing the depth, atmosphere, and natural drama of Bali, then shaping it through a cinematic color grade. The goal was simple: translate the feeling of being there into every frame.

Color-grading insights from this series:
• Prioritize natural skin tones, even when using strong teal–orange palettes.
• Build depth with soft contrast and carefully lifted shadows rather than heavy clipping.
• Introduce subtle film grain to enhance texture and visual cohesion.
• Balance warm highlights with cooler shadows to create a disciplined, filmic mood.
• Grade with intention—every adjustment should serve the story, not distract from it.

More cinematic frames from this trip are on the way.
If you want to see the full series or learn more about my workflow, comment cinematic.
