Here is a great explanation of the 2D, 3D, 4D... what does it all actually mean?
If you've been looking through our ultrasound packages wondering which type of imaging you want, here's the easiest way to think about it:
🤍 2D is the classic ultrasound view.
These are the traditional black-and-white images you probably picture when you hear "ultrasound." We can see baby's profile, movements, and those familiar little outlines that have been making their way into baby books for generations.
These 2D starts at 6 weeks and goes to 40 weeks.
Gender starts at 14 weeks
🤍 3D lets you see baby's features. These start as early as 24 weeks and up.
3D takes that 2D image and creates a rendered view from the outside, which is how we get those incredible images where you can start picking out baby's nose, lips, cheeks, and other facial features.
🤍 4D brings 3D to life.
The fourth dimension is movement, so instead of one still 3D image, you're watching baby move in real time. This is where we can catch the yawns, stretches, little facial expressions, and sometimes a smile or frown if baby feels like putting on a show.
They're three different ways of seeing the same little person you've been imagining this whole time.
🥹 And there's something pretty incredible about going from spotting that tiny profile in 2D to staring at a little face in 3D and immediately saying, "THAT is definitely Dad's nose!"
