The trees were bare just weeks ago.
Cold mornings. Gray skies.
Everyone a little stir crazy inside the house.

Winter always feels like it will last forever.
In the weather.
In motherhood.

The long days.
The short patience.
The wondering if you’re doing any of this right.

The sun stays a little longer.
The kids run barefoot in the yard again.
Windows open. Fresh air. Tiny green buds where everything looked dead.

Spring doesn’t mean motherhood is suddenly easy.
