The inspiration vs the ex*****on.

A tv character’s alter ego became The Raven Queen. Everything from the crown to the feather collar to the boots was cultivated and created with the help of Amber Waters who took my vision and gave me exactly what I wanted.

This was such a cool character to create and photograph.

Oh my god it was hot! The sun was unrelenting and the humidity was — well, it’s Florida so it needs no description 😏

But we did it! Some smelly settings, a few issues with parking, and a close call with the sidewalk later…we got it done!

Being able to turn day into night with a few sliders and a blue filter is pretty darn amazing.

Also amazing — taking a mere idea for a shoot and bringing it into existence and having it be everything I imagined. ✨🌙❄️👑

Would you believe these were taken in late morning light?

It took a lot of experimenting when I was editing to get the right color balance and exposure so it looked like these were shot at night (full disclosure: the night sky in the 2nd pic is a sky replacement but not AI).

The result is truly magical, mysterious, and mystical. And proof that you don’t necessarily need specific conditions to get the results you want when it comes to creative sessions. Almost anything is possible with imagination and creative editing ☺️📷🌖❄️

Grownups should get to play dress-up, too. In fact, I think it's imperative. For most of us, life doesn't leave a lot of room for play, yet play is the thing that keeps us balanced & sane.

When you engage in something fun that also takes you away from the real world for a while, your whole nervous system gets a break, and I think we all need some of that right now.

The beauty of it is that no two escapes are the same. Some might be a deep dive into a fantasy world, some might be taking on a persona through fashion, and some might just want to feel fancy for a while. The point is, it's your escape, and you get to design it. I'm just here to guide you -- and take the pictures, of course.😉📸
