I love watching alligators swim! Also notice how quietly they can swim when they want to!

The Prairie rapidly changes as the sun goes down sharing in the rapid flickers of changing light as the sun sets and before darkness falls over Payne’s Prairie. This spot is now completely dry!

Photographed on the ancestral lands of the ancestral lands of the Potano of the Timucua affiliation, Miccosukee & Seminole Tribe.

Everything comes in seasons.. moving in endings and beginnings and the liminal spaces in between each moment. A snail Kite lands on a perch on the edge of the prairie. On a perch that no longer exists in that current form and the bird off to a new location. There is a time to hold on in life and a time to let go. Getting better at knowing the difference. But perhaps the real trick isn't just knowing but following and trusting the path.

From bellowing during mating season & producing infrasonic waves, to high walking steady and strong to go cool off in the swamps to digging a gator hole for all of the wild ones during drought season alligators really make Florida.. Florida!
These are a few of my favorite clips!

When I left my house there was ice on the car and on the ground. It was a 31 degree F morning. The hardest part was getting out of the car and into my wetsuit… and running back to my car. I poked my head above water a few times but my face starts to become instantly numb so I went right back under the water into the 72 degree F water to watch observe and document. While receiving the profound gifts that I feel every time I get to swim in a Florida Spring. The last 2 photos are of the invasive armored catfish that are known to harass manatee when they attach to them tge manatee burn vital energy trying to shake them off which is especially tough for manatee in the winter because most if the springs do not have food for them to eat and replenish their burnt calories.

Morning light on the spring! There’s a new moon tonight and today is also my cousin Billie Jo’s Birthday that just passed a way.

Whether you are having the time of your life or the hardest time of your life, or both… I’m wishing beauty and light on your day from the power of a beautiful Florida spring! While I’m not at this spring today I can still feel the magic of it and once I’m done with my work I will be taking some time to see what nature has to say! I have been doing my morning writing on my porch to hear the birds sing and get fresh air and light on my face. Even a few minutes makes a huge difference. I’m grateful my crows haven’t forgotten me. I’m convinced the crows that I met when I was living in Hawthorne told the crows that live by my house in Gainesville about me and from what I’ve read this seems very likely.
