I'm pretty much a people photographer. I don't photograph many animals unless my clients bring them in for branding or family. I've been coaching a few photographers who specialize in dogs and pets and we've always been a home that rescues & adopts furbabies in need of a home. So this summer I opened up one day a month for pet sessions (people optional) and have been donating a percentage to a really great local organization that supports animals and pet owners. This week was our first official week and it's been a great time. Love hanging out with the cuties (they're owners aren't bad too)

Sami and I go way back to being bartenders together so when she booked to do some photos just her I knew we were going to have so much fun. She joined The 40 Project so we did portraits for that but we also added on several bo***ir sets as well (tbh my fav) I can't show you the entire shoot 🔥 but here's a little peak.

For a long time, she put herself at the bottom of the list.

She took care of her family.
She showed up for everyone else.
She kept saying, "Maybe next year."

This year, she decided it was her turn.

Not because she needed to change.
Not because she needed permission.

Because she realized she was just as worthy of being celebrated as everyone she'd spent her life caring for.

That's what the 40 Project is really about.

It's about honoring the woman you've become, not waiting for the "perfect" time to finally choose yourself.

I'd say she picked the perfect time. ❤️

15 years.
Hundreds of people in front of my camera.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

Most people are seeing themselves through a distorted lens.

We convince ourselves we’re “not photogenic.”
We zoom in on flaws no one else notices.
We hold ourselves to standards we’d never hold someone we love to.

The truth?

✨ There’s no such thing as being photogenic.
✨ Your inner critic is a terrible photographer.
✨ Even the people you think “have it all together” have something they’re self-conscious about.
✨ One photograph can genuinely change the way you see yourself.

Not because it changes who you are.

Because sometimes it shows you who you’ve been all along.

I’ve watched it happen hundreds of times, and it’s still my favorite part of what I do.

Fun fact: we currently have 2 cats and 5 dogs at my house and all but one are rescues. I guess you can say we have a soft spot for the fur babies.
I decided to start a once a month summer series where I photograph people with their pets and donate 10% of the profits to one of my favorite local organizations Friends of Gallia County's Animals. I always see them helping out in the community and not just the animals but the pet owners too. I am so excited to be able to support them.
Instead of waiting until the end of summer I am taking them a check at the end of each month.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone signed up so far - we have raised and donated $400!!

This isn’t about looking younger.

It’s about being seen.

in a season where you’ve learned who you are,

what you’ve survived,

and what you’re no longer willing to hide.

Most women tell me they almost didn’t book.

They thought they needed to feel more confident first.

More ready.

More “like the kind of woman who does this.”

But many times confidence doesn’t come *before* the experience.

It comes *from* the experience

It comes from allowing yourself to be witnessed - exactly as you are and as who you are becoming.

The work is about is about presence.

Legacy.

And claiming space in your own story.

Everyone talks about the senior.

But this one was for mom too.

Years of practices, travel, schedules, money spent, showing up, and building a life together… and she realized things are about to change.

Before her oldest leaves for college, she wanted to invest in something she could keep.

Not just memories.
Proof of all they built together.

So she brought her girls in and pressed pause for a minute.

And I loved creating these images for for them.
