The legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ.

This historic venue housed the genesis of artists like South Side Johnny, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt and Jon Bon Jovi.

The Stone Pony showcases local acts along with legends. Buckethead was on the Marquee for an upcoming show and David Lee Roth is also performing this summer.

I love knowing these legendary places are still operating. What are some of your favorite iconic music locations you've visited? Comment below!

Who recognizes this spot? Drop a comment of your favorite line from the movie.

This week I made a little detour while making my seasonal move north.

The Quick Stop in Learnardo, NJ.
Fans of 1990s indie movies will absolutely recognize this iconic location from the movie Clerks.

Of course I had to photograph the interior in black and white

📷MITRE PEAK | Fort Davis, Texas © 2018

'Always look behind you' has been a lesson I continue to learn over and over again when out photographing. This particular evening I was focusing on capturing the setting sun over Blue Mountain in the Davis Mountains. As I waited for the sun to fall where I wanted, I decided to look to the east, well south east to be precise; and behold there is this magnificent storm cloud forming on the south side of Mitre Peak in the distance. More often then not, I come back with a different shot than I anticipate before going shooting.

This view of the iconic peak was shot from the Desert Research Institute in Fort Davis, Texas. This image is currently on display at the visitor center as the background for their mission statement.

I photographed this young alligator gliding silently just above the water’s surface, and what immediately struck me was its eye—calm, focused, and ancient all at once. I was close enough to capture the fine details of its textured skin and the soft reflection beneath.

Hidden outside of busy Washington DC and tucked behind Quantico is the beautiful Prince William Forest. At 13,000 acres this area is the largest example of Eastern Piedmont Forest in the National Parks system. Biking, hiking, bird watching, it is a sanctuary for numerous plant and animal species. I found this spot several dozen feet off a hiking trail on a misty autumn morning. I left with this photo and very muddy feet.

Mount Katahdin, Maine's crown jewel. Mount Katahdin stands 5,269' and is located in Baxter State Park, Maine. I've been wanting to photograph the Katahdin region for a long time. In 2020, I was able to make a trip to Baxter State Park and Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument. Stunning beauty in every direction.

Big Bend is one of my favorite National Parks. Mountains, Desert, River, and some of the darkest skies in the country, there's a lot to love. The Chisos Mountains are the highlands of Big Bend with Emory Peak being the highest point at 7,825'. This image was taken in late August. Temperatures had cooled a little compared to the earlier summer months and the occasional passing rain delivered some attractive skies.

Roseate Spoonbills are some of the most beautiful and fun birds to watch and photograph. This one was a great performer. While I was photographing nesting Spoonbills one morning, this show-off flew down from its perch and danced for what seemed like hours just a few feet away from me

I captured several color photographs around Key Biscayne and Cape Florida Lighthouse this particular day, but it was this black & white capture of the lighthouse and dramatic passing clouds that struck me most. This image is a composition of three separate images, shot at different exposures. Stacked and blended together in post processing.

The Diner © 2017
Gardiner, Maine

This diner has been holding it down in my hometown since 1946. Same spot on Bridge Street… just a few different names and owners over the years.

It’s even been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives—which is pretty cool.

But what’s even cooler (at least to me)…it’s just one of several real-life places from back home that helped inspire locations in the fictional world of Cobbossee Falls I’m building in the story I'm currently writing.

👉 What’s a place from your hometown that should make it into a story?
