RIPLEY PAINTERS & PHOTOGRAPHERS
SPRING SHOW
In January of 2016, Jeanne Grant, a Ripley resident and artist, started hosting a group of people who wanted to explore art. This was not expected to last more than a month or two. This group still meets weekly to share what they are working on and to continue to receive guidance and encouragement from Jeanne as they explore their talents in watercolor, pencil, acrylic and oil.
In April of 2017 the artist decided that it was time to show the world what they had been creating. They did this by hosting the first “Ripley Painters Spring Show”. Fast forward to 2019 and The Ripley Painters are pleased this year to feature in addition to their own work some stunning photography created by Ripley photographers.
The 2019 “Ripley Painters & Photographers Spring Show” will kick off with an opening reception on Friday April 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The opening party Friday evening includes refreshments, an interactive quiz with a painting as a prize and a raffle benefiting the Friends of the Library for a work done collaboratively by all the painters.
The show will continue Saturday April 13th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Sunday April 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The artists are: Robin Gilbert, Sara Goldsberry, Jeanne Grant, Linda Kratzer, Ron Ralston and Jane Zachman.
The photography on display will be by Sara Goldsberry, Mick Grant, Ron Ralston, Walt Orlowsky, Jane Zachman and Tom Zachman. The group selected a photograph by Ron Ralston, a native of Brown County, to be the featured piece of this show. The piece is titled “After the Rain”.
The “Ripley Painters & Photographers Spring Show” will be held at the Annex next to the library. This is a large facility with plenty of room to enjoy what each artist has created and mingle with friends and the artists. This is a free event, and everyone is welcome to attend.
The Ripley Library is located on the corner of US 52 and Main Street in downtown Ripley. The Annex is located next door to the library on Main Street. To contact the Ripley Library 937-392-4871 or Facebook www.facebook.com/ripleyohiolibrary.
